I want to get a CAI, but worried that the wife won't like the sound of it sucking up air. I'm sure it's different for each manufacturer, but is the air sucking sound really audible in the cabin? Some of these videos seem really loud from the outside.

this should fix the problem :p

my MAP cai is pretty audible in the cabin with the windows up, gf doesnt like it but its my car so she can either drive her old awful pt cruiser or walk lol.

So far, I've owned both the MAP and JLT and rode in an Airaid equipped car. The MAP is the loudest by far. Between the metal piping and filter placement in the fender, it's very audible and loud. That's not saying that it's a bad thing, but some prefer not to hear the induction noises as much as others, lol. The JLT is semi-loud, I guess you'd say. You can still hear it under throttle, but while cruising, I don't much notice it anymore. When you punch it though, you'll hear it, but it's not overbearing. The Airaid is the quietest I've heard and that's probably because it's inside a completely sealed box whereas the JLT seals against the hood. On a ten scale rating for loudness, I'd rate the MAP around a 8-8.5, the JLT around a 5-5.5, and the Airaid around a 3.5-4.

Any in cabin videos of the JLT? I searched YouTube, but didn't really see any.

Also, you can block the blow off valve (with included plug) to make it more quiet? Is that right?

Not that I've seen. Unless you had a really good microphone mounted close to the hood or was under a decent amount of throttle, I don't know that a microphone would even pick it up. It's very quiet when you want it to be and can be louder than stock, if desired (by throttle input).

If you use the included plug, it will make the BPV vent and you'll get the normal pshhhttttt noise from the BPV. It'll make that specific noise much louder.

No, you block off the port where it would re-circulate to make it louder. Or you can use your stock recirc hose and its a bit quieter. I would post up a vid, but all you can hear in it is my exhaust and the BPV venting to atmosphere. JLT really just sounds like more air wooshing into the turbo, which you cant really pick up with a vid from inside the cabin. Would have to have a microphone under the hood or something.

I installed my JLT CAI today. I like the sound when capping it off. Should I just remove that hose completely?
If you are capping it off, you are supposed to. It's just unneeded tubing that is getting in the way

I ran it for a day with it off. Now trying it with it installed. There really isn't much of a difference in the sound. Maybe just a bit quiter on the release with the tube installed.

What did you go with in the end? On or off?

CAI and Tune Required?

Was about to pull the trigger and order the mishimoto from CJ when I saw this note on CJ's webpage: "Please Note: It is NOT recommended to use this kit with an aftermarket downpipe or cat-back exhaust, when used on your stock engine tune."

I already installed a Borla Touring catback exhaust and wanted to install the CAI then order an Unleashed tune. The idea was to give Torrie all the mods first to build the tune.
Unfortunately, I can't swing $$$ for both at the same time and I hate to order the CAI and have sit in the garage till fall.

What is the potential impact on running the CAI without a tune?

Any advice would be appreciated,

Idk where they got that recommendation from. I was running the FRPP sport catback and mishimoto intake together on the factory tune for a couple months with no issue

I would like to know where this came from as well. I just ordered a Flowmaster catback and already have the Mishimoto intake installed. I'm not sure why you would need a tune to run both. Does anyone know?
