so about the whole mounted to engine vs mounted to fender discussion, what are the drawbacks of fender mounting? Sorry if i missed the answer to this, i have read all the pages of this thread and multiple other threads but i dont think i saw the answer, or i missed it if i did.

MAP has yet to chime in on that thread, but I went with MAP anyways, because I don't want to remove my wheel and wheel liner every time I need to clean the filter

thats why i was originally leaning to MAP as well, I would really like to avoid removing the wheel liner every time the filter needed cleaning/changed.

Nothing but love for my JLT, and its got dyno numbers to back it up. I'll scan the sheet in here sometime, but 1st (cool) run was 275, and swapped the intake over, and with a slightly timing pulled run with the JLT it was 284. Could tell the timing by the tq curve and at the last 500 or so rpm it got sketch on the hp side. Love the added sound and power so far.

Im leaning toward the MAP, $100 difference is very appealing.

I think the Mishimoto CAI is worth the premium. Its just better looking and better designed in my opinion. Has a much bigger silicone hose that connects the piping which makes it more flexible to things bouncing around too

ended up ordering the MAP CAI, i almost pulled the trigger on a mishimoto that i could have gotten for $290 shipped but decided to save $50 and spend it on GTA-V for pc instead lol....priorities man...priorities.

I was told by a Ford service tech that a danger with using these CAI's is the possibility of the oil put on the filter getting sucked in and getting on the wire sensor that senses the volume of air coming in which cues the computer to adjust accordingly. Any comment from all you experts? Many thanks.

That would be a potential "danger" on a MAF based car, but not on these speed density (MAP) cars. The wire that you speak of is a component of a MAF sensor. If a filter is oiled to heavily, some of that oil can get sucked through the intake tract, and if it gets on that heated wire, it can throw the readings off. Fortunately though, we don't have to worry about that problem.

I asked Mishimoto about that and they basically said it won't happen and it has been proven to be a myth. Just did a quick search and found this link

It is not a myth, it has happened when people clean/oil their filters and put too much oil on the filter. As Juben said this is not an issue with our cars.

Got my Airaid CAI and man lemme tell ya you can notice the difference in sound, boost, and power. Definitely worth the upgrade. I love it!

Got my map intake installed yesterday, only got to rev it up at the house yesterday, got to actually drive with it today.

Ambient temp was 70F the entire drive.

While driving between 55 - 65 mph the iat were bouncing between 70 and 71.

At idle temp would rise to about 78 to 80 but quickly drop back to 70 after taking off again.

Car feels more lively now over the stock one. Not saying I immediately felt huge gains or anything, it just felt more responsive.

Finally we get to the sound... It's freakin loud lol. I have it recirculating instead of vent to atmosphere and it's plenty loud for me. Also put my magnaflow Competition catbacks on at the same time so the entire sound of the car changed all at once so that might attribute to the perceived loudness a bit.

Will post a video when I get a chance, only took a quick 10 minute drive this morning.

I want to get a CAI, but worried that the wife won't like the sound of it sucking up air. I'm sure it's different for each manufacturer, but is the air sucking sound really audible in the cabin? Some of these videos seem really loud from the outside.
