The good and the bad

There have been quite a few of us now that have seen the car in person, I can honestly say "It Looks so much better in person than in pictures" That being said, is there any details you noticed about the car that were unexpected, or you wish ford had just left them out?

For me there were a few things. The good first:

Speedometer- OK, it Reads "Ground Speed MPH" I know a bit goofy, but its the little details I am talking about.


Keyless entry!!!! Yeah Baby, its about time!!!


We all know about this one... IRS


Is that memory Seats?


As a gadget guy, I love this stuff, there is 21 buttons on the steering wheel, plus the paddle shifters and turn signal stalk...


Heated and Cooled Seats!!! Yeah more gadgets!


Did you say "Hidden Mustang"? Well this one is not hidden and I am sure the productiion model will be a little cleaner, but this is the rear view mirror from outside the car... note the mustang across the top of the windshield.


And now some bad... Trunk opening is going to be tiny on the convertible... of course its no smaller than the current mustang and I seem to do fine!


OK, so I have seen this before, but why dont these lines.... line up? hey are fine from straight on, but from the side they just dont make sense... the 3/4 isn't good either. Come on aftermarker.... LOL


Of course there are a lot more items on the car of interest, but has anyone else add to this?:ford:

To focus on some of the little details they got right - The good (to name a few):

- Side mirror mounted lower on the door (looks better, reduces noise/vibration and better aerodynamics).
- Cupholder placement has been moved for more friendly use when stick shifting.
- Steering wheel diameter is smaller
- Wheel design options look good so far

The bad:

- PP wheels only come in gloss black I believe
- Base radio layout is clunky, dated and looks out of place in a modern interior
- PRICE (yet unknown, but with prices for 2014, the affordable pony car is slowly becoming a misnomer)

Ford's been doing this since they've had steering wheel controls in the first place. I don't think that there has EVER been a Ford with audio controls on the left side. For me it's awkward if it's on the left...

I agree, but the one thing I did notice is that there is a mute button for the stereo now... and cruise now has a cancel button instead of having to turn it off or hit the brake pedal.

I definitely agree about the cup holders!

I personally am glad Ford would went back to normal controls for the radio and HVAC, although I love the fact that the systems can "understand" you :lol:, I almost always use the buttons to change settings. Going into the Nav Screen to change the way the air comes out of the vents was a horrible plan. Its nice to see they fixed it. The base stereo and the one in the nav are a little odd the way they are layed out. I guess Ford is planning on us keeping our right hands on the wheel to change stuff.

I know that, I've owned Mustangs.

With so many Music Sources available, (HD, FM, AM, XM, IPod, Pandora, AHA, HDD, CD, etc.) + Volume & Next song/station, having controls on the left is way better, with a manual.

I'm currently DDing a car, with the Music Controls on the left and after my last Mustang (BOSS 302) with controls on the right, I wonder...Why would they put the most used steering Wheel controller on the right, especially in vehicles that have manual as an option-->:shrug:

I'm actually a little more disappointed about the boringness and plainness of the color and font of the main gauges other than the "ground speed". They look overly simple and dull (read cheap). Just a small nitpick. It doesn't spoil it for me.

Haha that's funny because I really like the gauges. I hate the ones in my current 11 gt/cs and was going to change them until I decided to get a new one.

The "ground speed" ties into the whole cockpit-centric interior theme they've focused on, much like the dual cowl dash.

I prefer the 2013 guages ANYDAY to the 2015's....that is one of the issues Ihave so far is the interior is not that much of an improvemnt esp the cluster. I like the toggles and the cupholders but thats about it. Pushbutton is ok too. However I love line lock, that is sick.

I think the "ground speed" thing is part of the overall P-51 Mustang fighter cockpit theme. Obviously ground speed vs air speed is an important distinction for pilots, but unless this car can fly they could probably have left it out. Personally, I could take it or leave. Doesn't evoke any emotion in me one way or the other.

On the topic at hand,

The good:

-Interior plastics look much better
-Remote entry and push button start
-Toggle switches are a very nice touch

The bad:

-Base radio w/o MFT looks like crap
-A bit too many chrome accents for my liking
-The freaking prop rod is still there
-No performance pack with auto trans (not confirmed but hinted)
-Perf. pack wheels are black, and I personally am tired of the blacked out wheel trend

The premium models offer memory seats and you can program up to four fobs with different seat/mirror positions that will automatically set as you approach the driver's door.

The pony in the top of the windshield has actually been there since at 2005, my 05 has one.

And now some bad... Trunk opening is going to be tiny on the convertible... of course its no smaller than the current mustang and I seem to do fine!

Few convertibles have large trunk openings but, the opening is actually larger on the 2015 than the 14 with a lower liftover and the capacity has grown from 9.6 to 11.4 cubic feet. Thanks to the IRS, the load floor is flatter and the snap-in end caps for the top don't take up the space required for the old tonneau.

The trunk opening is a major peeve of mine on my 2001. The trunk is plenty big enough if you just need to carry around a boatload of toothpicks.

I can't see anybody owning a mustang as their only vehicle because of it. DD with an SUV or truck on standby? Sure. But not as their only vehicle.
