The Down and Dirty ADM Thread

We, as in the consumer, control the market demand. Manufacturers control supply. If everyone here collectively decides to stay put and put their 1st world car itch issues aside for a few months, dealers will come back to reality.

There are only 300-500 of these cars being made every year. YOU control the market, not dealers. Everyone thinks they are just one person and how can one person influence the market conditions? Well you start one person at a time and build from there. If everyone in this forum and their friends outside of forum collectively decided to stay put, the ADMs would come down to reasonable levels.

That's a hopeful plan that will never happen. People paying ADM for lower production special models of cars (like the GT350 & GT350R) has been going on for decades. I doubt it will really ever change as long as people love cars. Only way ADM disappears is when nobody wants the car, and I don't think that is something you can artificially produce because there will always be people who can't resist and 'have to have it'.

No, we just don't live in a fantasy land where we try to influence the financial decisions of others.

It's a crock pot fantasy to believe that ranting and raving on the internet will sway others from paying adm. If everyone did that (in your and other's fantasy lands), all the cars would sell out instantly and a secondary market would develop.

I am not making any threats. Its unethical for a person to work for a company where the same individual is badmouthing the very product that helps that company pays his salary to put food on his table. Thats wrong.

Not really, in his case it's job security. And corporations in general care ZERO about individual employees, so its pretty silly to say its unethical to have a poor opinion of a your employers products. Its not an ethics issue at all, its simply an opinion of a product, one's employment need not change that opinion. One doesn't need to be "sipping the koolaid" to be a productive employee.

I'd hope you would consider yourself a smart person but you, just 4 days ago, posted that you'd pay +$7500 ADM for an R. So what is it? $7500 is ok... MSRP only? Everyone is dumb? I'm so confused.

If those ADM payers actually stood their ground, we all would collectively benefit from this.

No, we would not. If you could somehow convince an entire forum of car enthusiasts that you can spend their money better than they can - and everyone agreed to hold their ground...What you would have is a forum full of people without GT350Rs and the cars would all be sold anyway, to everyone else in the world that wants them.

You're wrong. It's been going on since the beginning of any kind of trade/commerce. It's been going on since anyone ever valued a product or service based on the demand of said product or service. It's been going on so long that I find it utterly amazing and amusing that people try to convince others that it somehow doesn't work that way. This is pretty fun to watch.

Couldnt find an R for under 7500 ADM. Now anyone that pays one is stupid, even though he would have paid 7500 ADM. Lol. So my 2500 more that i'm paying, than your max amount is dumb?! You have dictatorship mentality man. If your gonna live in the US get used to people having choices. You make your choice, i make mine. You have your cap, i have mine. Mine was 15k adm but im 5k under that, so im OK with it.

The question of ADM or how much someone buys something for has been around since money was invented. I know that there are plenty of people that are financially more well off than I am. I also know that there are plenty of people less fortunate than I am. The money conscious people will see people spending money as reckless. The people with money have the money and will spend it. Nobody will think of anyone else when they want to buy something. Either you have the money and want it bad enough or you can't or won't spend the money to get it. Simple as that. I don't fault anyone for paying big ADMs for these cars. After all, it's their money and I have no right to even suggest how they spend it. I have my opinion on paying ADM but it's only my opinion.

So, instead of going back and forth, just let it go. You're not going to change anyone's mind. Life is not fair. If it was, I would be driving a million dollar car.

Lets just move on. In my own sense, I had no intentions to insult or cause issues here, I was merely trying to open people's eyes and in the long run help each other - the community. There is just too many people here who already paid these markups and there is no way anyone will come here and say "yes, I wasted 20-30 grand and I am an idiot, please dont repeat the mistake I made". That just wont happen. In fact, that kind of one reversing himself never happens in a car forum because people are so single minded and so hung up on their reasoning.

You keep paying ADMs, I'll keep waiting. If I wait months and still no joy, who knows I might eat my own words and pay a small markup maybe 2-5k and try to swallow that, but I highly doubt it. Yes I was initially trying to find a car for $7500, but then I made a few calls, spoke to a few people and the general attitude and the responses I have seen really left a sour taste. To be honest, greed is not a strong enough word for these people.

I dont understand how FTC rules dont apply to car makers, i.e if a milk maker suddenly started charging $25 for a carton, instead of $5 or if your cable bill went from $35 to $135, I'm sure there is some federal law that will protect you. How can they allow for cars to go above what the manufacturer of the car deemed appropriate?

Seems to me that free markets are a tool, not a divine ordinance. They are in general the most efficient way to provide goods and services to people. But they do not always work that way and they can be limited by a number of factors including coercion, greed, and paucity of resources. Supply and demand are market responses not excuses for greedy behavior.

There is an objective value to this car as it does have an invoice. There is a reasonable profit to be made as it does have an MSRP. That is not price fixing. Some want to label anything above that "market value" and some want to label it "greed". Count me in the latter. Wouldn't pay over MSRP for this vehicle. Understand why some do. But just because you don't feel like you were taken advantage of doesn't mean you weren't.

The double-standards are strong here. Someone suggests (not the first person to suggest it) that consumers band together in order to drive the price of a product down...meanwhile, if all of these dealers banded together to have a common price, these same folks would have an aneurysm...(and it would be illegal).
