They only got one 2016. I talked to a few different larger dealers in my area and none got more than 1 2016. People just don't buy a lot of Mustangs here in the great white north.Very odd, especially since some dealers are already taking deposits on their MY17 allocations. Did they get just a single MY16?
When the GT350 was available and being shipped to dealers, the vast majority (85-90%) of them were sent to dealers EAST of the Rocky Mountains; there were very few cars available in the WEST - 1 in Washington, 2 in Nevada, 1 in Oregon, and few more in California. I also live in the SF Bay Area were the only dealer with a car was asking $40 -50k over MSRP....AND GOT IT!! I am not going to rant about your purchase, I am happy that you were even able to get a car, even better at MSRP. But us people who live in the "Left Coast" had very few options and even to this day, are "lucky" to be able to pick up a car at a minimum of $10K over MSRP. Yes, one could buy a car from back east, but try to find one at MSRP, plus the shipping costs, and the travel costs to see and the car and sign the papers. When you factor in those costs, it is just better to pay the $10K over MSRP and buy local, if you are lucky enough to find one.
What are the dealers that you talked to getting? They are starting to hit the dealerships around the bay area and the surrounding area. In the last couple of months I've seen 5 at different dealerships. I would like to know what dealer got $40-50k over and the specs on the car. The dealers I've talked to haven't got that much for them.
That would be very, very fun to watch. If there is going to be a reduced production # for 2017 MY, Lord help us... This place will be on fire with ADM stories and the sky falling and a helluva lot of people coming in here and blaming Ford for being bastards for not taking their money at MSRP or below.
Can your source confirm the possibility of cars being stolen? My sources inside the Ford department that employs the guys that drive the cars from the plant to the holding lot tell me that they're only building 42 2017 GT350s. All base models and no R's.
Because it's the universal answer.WTH ... why only 42 ?
At this point, I am starting to believe anything over 10k over for a base is simply not happening for 95% of the dealers, seems like 5kish is the sweet spot for most.Had to pay a little bit of ADM myself to get the car I wanted sadly but that's my fault for not ordering one. Dealer wanted $30k over, managed to get it down to $6k over on NYE as they hadn't sold the car yet. They declined offers of $15k over just a week prior.
Honesty, I feel that's half the battle right there. I don't like to waste time, I'm always a serious buyer and if I want something I'll do the deal on the spot. Barring one exception where I drove a Ferrari to Naples to do a deal and the dealer tried to screw me, being straight up and motivated has always worked. Just gotta have the balls to walk out sometimes, and that's always tough if you've driven hours to do the deal or if the car is super rare!Gotcha, it might have also been your willingness to head on down and deal. 1 in the hand is better than 2 in the bush.
