So what would be better; double adjustable coil-overs with camber plates on a base model or Ford OEM magnaride suspension?

Some pure track enthusiasts would prefer the coil-overs. Double duty.... street.track driven more thn just on the weekends.... the Magnaride wins.

Well of course that will have to be true. With the un-sprung weight being so much lower due to the carbon fiber wheels, the suspension setup will have to be matched to the car.

I'm sure those wheels will make an absolutely tremendous difference in the handling. I'm jealous of those who are buying the R.

WTF are you talking about? Info going around from when the GT350 was announced stated it was using a Gen 2 system. That was used in the Gen 2 CTS-V. They are now on the Gen 3 system which as indicated by someone else has more drive modes, faster response etc... If the 350 is using the Gen 3 system great. If not most won't notice. My initial post was mentioning the cost on a Stingray is only $1795 as a standalone option. But yeah it came from GM marketing. :tsk:

WTF are you talking about? Info going around from when the GT350 was announced stated it was using a Gen 2 system. That was used in the Gen 2 CTS-V. He's wondering where the Gen2 info came from. I recall hearing that as well, but I've also seen reports that the "R" is using a Gen3 system. Seems doubtful that the two versions would use a different system, so taking either statement as fact seems premature at this point.

IIRC someone inferred the generation of the system based on a blurb about the response time. I don't think there was anything directly stating that a Gen2 system was used.

I don't think your pricing info is in dispute (I have specced out a C7 about 1000 times, so I am familiar with GM's option pricing for the mag shocks).

I recall reading that the ''R" will have the same shocks but with different valving.

Which will most likely mean slower dampening.

"It should also be noted that most of the suspension calibrations, bushing durometers, and so forth are slightly stiffer still on GT350R models, which will also likely ride slightly lower than the GT350, which also rides lower than the GT Perf Pack. The MR shocks are also unique, with the internal piston orifices smaller on the R"

If you're going to ditch the Magneride, why bother with the track pack? Just get a base and save more money.

Nevertheless MagRide is a must for me... granted the GM C7 version has more versatility (3 MSRC drive modes: Wet/Eco/Tour, or Sport, or Track... and then 5 PTM modes while in Track mode: Wet, Dry, Sport1, Sport2, Race). I have it on my C7 Z06 and it's absolutely worth it and one of the best dynamic features for optimal handling & balance- you can vary from comfort to firm but it has so many more variables. On the new Shelby, it's a must IMO... it's an option box that'll get checked-off without a doubt.
It's not a box that needs to be checked. Magnaride is standard on the GT350 and the R.

The specs on the Magneride for the GT350 are Gen 2. As the dampening and adjustments are readjusted every 8 milliseconds to the driving conditions. Whereas the Chevy implemented Gen 3 system adjusts every half millisecond to driving conditions.

Its a big leap forward for FoMoCo, still a step behind GM in this area, but, that may change with the next MY before these cars are no longer produced.

Which is why as an early adopter....you don't necessarily reap the full potential. My guess is the later releases will see improvements in areas like this as well as other cool options that are going to be unique to FoMoCo.

I for one would love to see the adaptive steering implemented on this car later in its life cycle along with the Gen 3 or better dampening and perhaps a power and torque bump, which would make a difference in the car from year to year. And add something unique for each MY owner.

I hate seeing a similar car on the road when I'm out for a drive. Even such a limited car...it seems as if it will be all over the place judging from the interest. ???

Actually, Ford now says every 7 milliseconds. I'm sure my butt dyno will be able to feel that. :D

And the Corvette website says the Magnetic Ride Control can adjust every 15 milliseconds. :crazy:

Yeah not going to realize the diff in potential unless you're a well paid racer.

Probably been said already, but I would prefer the R except I wouldn't track it enough to get the full value, and whats the point of paying extra for the weight loss, only to gain it from the tech package.
