On the very rare occasion that I'm first in line this usually pulls up alongside of me.

Haha.. On Sunday I took off from a restaurant but didn't squeal the tires (Roush AB and xpipe though), or go more than 5mph over the speed limit, which was 55mph and a guy in a supped up Pontiac gave chase but he was going a lot faster than me to catch me and a cop grabbed him, lol. I'm sure he was like what about the guy in the super loud mustang???

Don't bother. Just....don't. I don't know what it is, but I've seen more people in what's considered a normal car doing stupid shit around me because of my car than anybody driving a performance-level vehicle. I've seen plenty of loud Challengers in my area, and none of them act aggressive, but the guy in the Chevy pick-up truck or some dork in a Camry seem ready to reenact Fast & the Furious past the local coffee shop for no reason.

And....auto or manual? You just mentioned putting your foot down....so if you have the auto, there's no reason for you not to goose it at least a little bit. If a manual, I've seen this mentioned elsewhere, but get the hell out of 1st asap. And somebody with an auto is just about always going to get going at least a tad quicker, so let them. Let them have their little pyrrhic victory, and then blow by them at 6,000 RPM in Track Mode.

Howdy Everyone,

I am the proud owner of a 2019 Mustang GT PP1 car, that I purchased in late June. I love this car so far, and coming form a 2016 EB Mustang, the sound and the power are incredible. However, I found myself wondering yesterday as I saw a hot-rod civic take-off from a stoplight way faster than I did, what is considered "normal" take-off behavior for Mustang enthusiasts. To put it another way, when I start from a stop light, I don't mash the throttle to the floor, I smoothly put my foot down, and don't typically take off very fast. My thoughts on this are based off not wanting to slam on the breaks if the idiots in front of me don't take off. However, as I mentioned above, I find myself overtaken by cars I know don't perform as well as mine most of the time. So, my question for you is, when you take-off, do you tend to mash the pedal to the floor, smoothly depress it, somewhere in-between? Thanks!

Sometimes I drive real gentle to see what sort of gas mileage I can get. Sometimes I accelerate from a stoplight a little more than necessary. I change modes. The A10 is fun to play with. I drove 32 miles on city streets on Sunday and got 28 mpg.

I race overpasses and tree tunnels. Gets me about 14.8 mpg.

Race them. It will make for an interesting day.
Done that several times. Was on bikes that could hit 60 in the 2's so I figured getting to the speed limit in a rate that would be 4 to 60 could in no way be construed as exhibition of speed or anything. Always got away with it. Looking back, was probably really pushing my luck.

When he pulled you over did you ask him what was with the Bitch Blue paint on the hood? LOL. I tend to start off fairly mellow from a light and roll into the throttle more once the car gets moving. Theres something about how this car feels and sounds when I do that.

Really depends on the mood I'm in, but more often than not, I am leaving a dead stop by not spinning the tires or accelerating super hard unless I need to get around traffic. In fact, I haven't even popped the clutch once on this car from a dead stop. I already know what it can do and how fast it can go. The tires aren't exactly the cheapest either so I take that into consideration as well when accelerating from a stop.

I feel like If i want to accelerate moderately fast I have to shift faster, and honestly I'm just too lazy to do that unless I'm in the mood. I won't get to 40 until like 3rd gear. If the person behind me doesn't like that they can switch lanes.

Meanwhile you got Karen in her Nissan Altima or some kind of crossover that just mashes the pedal no matter what, switching lanes anytime she feels the person in front of her is too slow, weaving through traffic, braking hard because she's still accelerating towards a red light..etc

If first at the light I usually wait till I'm through the intersection safe and sound before I decide if I'm gonna make sure the butt dyno needs calibration or not. I laugh at people wanting to "race" me, sign a maturity maybe. Plenty of spirited drives row though all the gear including 1st. Not sure why some have issues with 1st lol. Fun fact, you don't even need to hit the gas in first or reverse, the car wont let itself die unless your left foot is something that shouldn't be in the car to begin with. Job 1 is always to get home to the wife safe and sound. Be safe out there.
