I just did the 2.3 update and went to report it to ford but the file that it wants isnt on my usb drive.
It's a .xml file that is placed inside the folder on the thumb drive.

Should be a small .xml file. I tried to report too and the site came back with an error. However, a while later I went to check on owner.ford.com and found it showed the correct update.
Yeah, had the same thing happen with both the Fusion and the GT350. The file uploads and the report works even though the site reports an upload failure. This was the only issue I had with the 2.3 update. Glad it wasn't just me.

Did the update actually complete? Did you get the completion message with the "you can remove the thumb drive now" prompt?

Do you really need 32 gb hard drive?
Try it, maybe it'll work.

People in the Sync3 update thread in infotainment section are reporting Memm03 errors with smaller thumb drives, and the Ford Owner website specifically calls out for a 32GB drive. YMMV.

2016 GT350 Track Pack
An FYI for everyone on here with Sync3 installed on a 2016 Track Pack that originally came from the factory with base Sync on a 4" screen: I am getting OTA updates via WiFi in my garage. I just downloaded the 2.3 update to install it, but before I did, I checked the installed version and it's 2.3 already.

So, to be clear, I bought an 8" Sync3 upgrade from Jesse at OEM Parts Co. Now, I learned that Ford's database for my car updated itself to the new version of Sync and is giving me automatic OTA updates for it.

It doesn't get better than this...

My Experience

Just successfully completed Sync Update from 1.0 to 2.3 on my 2016 GT350 as below:

Bought http://a.co/j4R3aFZ on Amazon, had to use "Disk Utility" on my Mac to change format from Fat32 to exFat.

Then installed Zip file from Ford on my desktop.

Then had to install Mac Stuff It Expander to open Zip and move contents to its own folder

Copy and Paste entire contents of folder to the USB thumb drive. Contained two files and a folder.

Start car, plug USB thumb drive into USB port in center console by right elbow.

Automatically began update. Took about 30min. Message came on screen that I can now remove USB drive.

Removed USB drive, then turned car off.

Waited 5min, restarted car. Success. Version 2.3 shows in general settings.

Cool thing is it kept my radio settings other than my display setting (I prefer nighttime all the time, like the screen black). Also kept my red startup screen I installed with Forscan in the past. Looks a little different now, sharper image and says "Ford Performance" as well.

Update: This is a game changer for the radio. You MUST upgrade to SYNC 2.3. After using it to and from work with AndroidAuto and my phone plugged in via USB, I must say I now love this radio. Sound simply listening to FM radio is poor, but when use AndroidAuto with iHeart Radio, Pandora, Google Play, Etc., sound is significantly improved, as good as my Bose system with satellite radio in my Cadillac. And Google Maps with traffic info or Waze is awesome on the Nav Screen. You can use bluetooth as well, but sound not great then.
