In my usage, the Android Auto works great for nav and there's no need to mess with the phone to search or reroute.

Agreed. The only reason to add nav to sync 3 is to have nave on the cluster if you ever end up doing the lcd cluster.

Well that's exactly what OP is looking to do by going from 4" to 8". There are alternatives to using the in dash nav but it is very useful especially when your phones do not work.

Things you will need... New 8" Screen, with NAV APIM, new Dash Bezel, New USB Hub, NAV Antenna along with some additional wiring and Forscan Programming of equipment.

This is why folks stated you can reach out to one of the fan favorites for a complete kit with programming or piece it together yourself and program. Good luck either direction you decide to pursue. If you have further question it maybe best to post in the thread listed above..

And that is exactly why I recommended not trying to do this on the cheap. Without the basic electronics knowledge the chances of making a mistake go up as will the final cost.

I do appreciate all the info but the kit I am looking at from midway mustang is a complete kit with apim, 8" screen, radio and dash bezel for around $675. I am 66 years old and have been working on cars my whole life but when it comes to something I have never did I need to ask questions. There are alot of people on this forum that have did the same thing and bought from the same place. Most of the comments have been to use my phone for navigation that is not really what I was asking about. When you go from 4" to 8" you gain bigger screen your drive modes among other things. My questions where is all 8" touch screens come with navigation and is it plug n play as long as it's out of a 2019 or newer. I understand I need to buy a forscan to program the new radio. Unfortunately I had a 2020 gt premium I bought brand new that was loaded with all of this and I miss not having it. I sold it because I was going through alot of problems with my kids and I kick myself in the butt everyday that I was that stupid. So anyone else that can help me with what I am looking for I really would appreciate it. Thank you

Yes, as I said before the screen is the same. It’s the APIM that determines whether or now you have Nav. I’m not sure who Midway is but unless they offer tech support I’d pass as you are going to need it.

Looked at Midway Mustang parts which I believe is where your are quoting the price. They do not state in their descriptions whether the APIM module is NAV or NON NAV only "module mounted to the screen" They also state the following:

NO dash harness which you may need. Not 100% sure what else is needed to make this work but these are the only pieces we have left. Please do your research to see what else is needed as we are not responsible for fitment between years and models. Check with your dealer for fitment, not responsible. Not positive what else is needed to make it plug and play. Unit has been checked twice and it works as it should. Screen and all controls work.
