My insurance company determined this to be a total loss. I'm shocked by that since there's no fluid leaks, no air bag deployment, no apparent frame damage, etc. I have the option to buy it back as a salvage (will probably do that). BTW 17 Premium EB, wife's car, hit a deer at 40mph.

I've recently started hearing about different vehicles being totaled due to inability to get repair parts. I doubt that's an issue for the mustang but who knows.
Really it's more likely a combo of age and resale value. EBs aren't doing bad in the used car market but nothing like the GTs are.

Once you start hitting close to 50% of value of the vehicle they would rather total it.

Hello; Before you consider buying it back from the insurance have a look see at some things.
Check that the doors open and close properly. Check that the trunk fits properly without gaps or such. Roll the windows up and down.
look around under the hood and under the car for area of paint with what looks like wrinkles. These unibody cars can have damage to the body shell far away from the impact. My brother had a four sedan which had a very much less of an impact in the front than your car. He settled too soon and later found one of the rear doors was out of whack a bit.

Good luck.

1. How much is the buy back
2. How much is the insurance wanting to pay you

Should get those numbers tomorrow, depending on what they offer may buy back just to convert it to a dedicated CAM-C car

To be honest I’m not really surprised. I had a 2015 EB premium, in 2016 I had an accident that didn’t even look as bad as yours. It was almost $18k to repair it. No radiator or engine damage.

Things may have changed but as an example at that time each head lamp assembly was ~$1300 new from Ford. Hood was $1500, the air shutter thing behind the bumper $600, etc.

Surprised no one else asked, how's your wife? I assume she came through OK?

Also, having venison steaks for dinner?

Hitting a deer is a common hazard around here, especially at certain times of the year. I totaled an Eagle Talon hitting one. A neighbor lady hit a deer on her way to work a while back. She had a rental car while her car was being fixed and hit a deer with that car, too.
