What are the superchargers types? The + and - of each type? I am not going to do this, it is mostly for education purpose.

We're saying top mount and front mount now?some mount on top, some on the front. Top mounted hit all thru the RPM range making them tougher to apply on the street when traction may be an issue, front mounted come on strong towards the mid to upper RPM range making them better for DD in most folks opinions, they also tend to be cheaper and easier to install. this may be an over simplification but Im no expert.![]()
I guess chatgpt is wrong, we already had a 30 page discussion whether or not a centri blower produces the least heat from the 3 and people argue twin screw makes less heat post compressionTry chatgpt. Better than google.
Types of Superchargers
Each type has its own unique advantages and disadvantages, making them suitable for different applications and performance needs. Does this help with your understanding?
- Roots Type Supercharger
- How it Works: Uses two rotors to push air into the engine1.
- Pros: Provides instant boost, good for low RPM power.
- Cons: Can be less efficient at higher RPMs, adds weight to the engine.
- Twin-Screw Supercharger
- How it Works: Uses two interlocking rotors to compress air2.
- Pros: Efficient across a wide RPM range, quieter than Roots.
- Cons: Can be more complex and expensive to install and maintain.
- Centrifugal Supercharger
- How it Works: Uses a spinning impeller to draw in air and compress it.
- Pros: Efficient at high RPMs, less heat generated.
- Cons: May not provide as much low-end power as other types.
Very good explanation of the birds and the bees! Oh wait, you were talking cars....some mount on top, some on the front.
