Installed my Ford Racing blank rear panel today. Brought the trunk down and then pushed it closed with my hand. Didn't wanna just pulled it closed, cause I wanted to make sure the new panel wouldn't hit the bumper. Well, it seems I push a little too hard (didn't push hard at all, really) and dented my trunk. WTF?

It is definitely thin. Drilling my trunk for my spoiler was very easy because of how thin the sheet metal is. No denting issues but I've never pushed mine closed like that.

I heard about this issue before. Sorry that happened to you.
How should i close the trunk from now on? There are no handles to close it on the inside.
I can be careful but cant imagine what would happen if i let a friend of family member close it. There is always that person that slams the doors/trunk...

Yeah, I have a spoiler on the way. Can't believe how easily the trunk dented. That's the first and last time I close it like that. I normally pull it down from the up position enough to fully close it.

Time to call a PDR company. They can fix this no problem.

i will say this on every thread I can

there is a reason the car typically comes with a crappy spoiler.

to cover up the mistake of shoddy build quality.

I too have the same dent in the same exact area. Don't know how or when, but I noticed it a few months after I had purchased my car. :\ I thought it might had been debris or something but theirs no scratches to the paint...

Aren't most of the body panels aluminum?

I've closed my trunk lid numerous times without denting it - did you apply a greater amount of force to get it to close?

As stated above too - a reputable PDR shop will be able to make that sent disappear as if it never happened - prob cost ya maybe $100 or under, but worth it to make it go away.
