Geese. When did you buy yours? Im wondering which batch mine is from. I bought mine around may 19. An apology is great and all on their part but man you got lucky that it didnt completely break apart. That would of trashed your engine. Heck you dont even really know if those metal bits did any harm. The new cs are being advertised as 4340 but I wonder if the original ones were.
Well that’s all good and dandy that Boundary is acknowledging the problem with a batch of OPGs, but for all “sorrys we know” aside, what are they going to do for those who lose a Coyote due to the extensive internal contamination from their part failing and the cost of repairs??

Are they going to reimburse those who have had failures? That would be the right thing to do, especially since they have admitted a bad batch got loose to the consumer.

Did they bother to recall their inventory from vendors or are people still ending up with the “bad batch” OPG?
Well, my OPGs were fine, just the CS cracked. But yeah, I got pretty lucky because it didn't break into smaller pieces so they fell right into the pan and stopped at the pickup tube. I used the whole thing as an excuse to get a new built shortblock, but luckily the old block looks good. I purchased mine from Beefcake at the end of last year. I don't know how far back their original units run or how many were made from that bad batch of material.
I agree that they should take further action, and they may have taken other steps, I just wasn't provided with any further information. While apologies aren't everything, I'm glad that they are willing to take ownership of (or admit) the issue instead of pretending it was a one-off. Now, that won't stop me from going another route or thinking twice about purchasing from them.

Wow! Sorry to hear.

Who built your new motor and is it in yet?
I purchased the shortblock from MMR. It's gotten delivered and everything else is pretty much good to go, we're just waiting for the heads to come back from the machine shop to put it all back together. Hopefully it'll all be done in the next day or two.

Looks like Ill be tearing into my engine hopefully this weekend. Ill be inspecting these oil filters as well as pulling the valve covers, timing cover and oil pan. I also have a bad oil pan leak which is frustrating since its a brand new block and new gasket/windage tray. Anyone have suggestions of what I should look out for? Im obviously going to check the cams for wear, Ill pull a few cam caps to check them and make sure the metal particulat isnt doing damage up top. Also will be checking and replacing some rod bearings as long as I can acquire some.

Speaking of which. What brand rod bearings should I get? Was thinking either getting some from ford or calling jpc or someone similar to see what they recommend. I hope I dont have any mains that are bad. Can a main bearing be changed without pulling the crank entirely? Ill check the end play and rod side to side play while Im in there too.
