Super Snake in Colorado Springs

I was at Phil Long Ford of Chapel Hills in Colorado Springs this morning getting an oil/filter change and this Super Snake was the only car in the showroom. $152,000.

I do not understand the pricing for these cars. Shelby's at one time was an affordable option for the "working person" now not so much.

My Super Snake is a coupe and I'll run it hard at the track, no issues. I'm hesitant with high horsepower convertibles, and I think it was a mistake to ever release the S550 Super Snake as a convertible. Honestly, for the price, it's mostly for older peeps who can afford to simple have one to cruise around in and take to car shows. There's only one other S550 Super Snake around me that I know of, and it's owned by a New Balance Q-Tip that barely drives it.

My response wasn’t meant to throw any shade on Super Snake owners. Ford Performance stated that the S550 GT500 would never be released as a convertible due to chassis limitations. I think the video shows why. Why wouldn’t Shelby American engineer a brace (or two) to strengthen the chassis in the first place? Now I’m curious if GT500 owners with Whipple conversions can still use their strut tower brace. If they can, the problem might be partially fixed. Otherwise, I wouldn’t consider a Whipple conversion.

Does anyone know if Shelby American fixed the bracing issues for 2021+ models (the TH tested model was a 2020)? Not that I’m interested in purchasing one but I would think/hope they’d rectify that issue ASAP. I don’t see a strut tower brace (clearance issues with the Whipple I assume) so unless they added some bracing underneath I assume they’re going to get the same result.

I just realized that this is a Speedster conversion. That explains the price.

I never felt any shade. Hell, I throw my own at Super Snake owners sometimes. The video showed exactly why a convertible GT500/Super Snake would be and is a bad idea. My 04 Cobra was a convertible and I had to run subframe braces to keep it rigid enough for a bigger blower.

The convertible Super Snake is legitimately for the person that wants to own a Super Snake and just have it sit, but say, "I have XXX horsepower under the hood".

Wow. Thanks for the link. Shelby America ought to be absolutely humiliated. What a steaming pile of $hit. All show and zero go. If I dumped $200k into that heap I would be livid. Carroll is probably filling over in his grave.
