Hey Guys,

Been installing my Corsa headers today and I ran into a snag while removing my motor mounts. The bracket that's bolted to the block was easy to remove. However the motor mounts are brutal where they attach to the frame. I knew hitting them from the top was an option and I went for it after realizing that using all my force to turn the bolt a hair at a time from underneath was going nowhere.

I had the car on the lift and the engine propped up off the mounts so I didn't want to lower anything. I got up on a ladder and propped the hood up. I used my cordless impact to pop off two of the three remaining bolts. The third was giving the impact a hard time, I was expecting something to shatter. Instead the bolt head stripped and left me repeating every swear word in my vocabulary.

I was going to weld a nut on to it but there wasn't a ton of room. Instead I grabbed a crappy 13mm socket and tack welded it with my tig to the bolt. How fucking crazy is that? The weirdest part was that bolt had the least (almost none) amount of Loctite on it.

So what do you think guys, is this replacement hardware that exists at the dealer? Should I go to lowes tomorrow and try to find a new bolt? I kinda wanna replace three or maybe all four. Three of them took a hell of a beating from the impact gun. I guess I could be funny and weld a nut properly to the factory bolt on a vice hahaha. Ghetto!

Another part of me wants aftermarket motor mounts now...

EDIT: Found motor mount bolts at dealer, part # W713078-S439 and picked them up.

One of the bolts holding the bracket to the block was cross threaded on my car. I was cussing trying to get it out. Then trying to reinstall was worse. It tried to cross thread more.

Ugh! At least these weren't cross threaded. I'd be so pissed. Kinda worried putting em back in, but new bolts should help make things go smoother.

Just to clarify, you're talking about the bolts (2 each side) between the actual motor mount and the frame? It's a little late now, but did you really need to remove those? I'm asking because I am getting ready to do my headers (ARH). In the CJPP video he removes them for more room, but it seems like most people say you don't need to (just remove the engine bracket and go...). I'm interested to hear OP's thoughts.

Anyway, glad you got the bolt out and hopefully it goes back together smoothly!

You absolutely, positively, 100% DO NOT NEED TO REMOVE THE MOTORS MOUNTS THAT ARE ATTACHED TO THE FRAME. Just the brackets that are attached to the block.

I'm talking about the two bolts holding the mount to the frame. I was going by Corsa's instructions which said to remove both the brackets and the mounts. However, I think they went a bit too far clearing room. I'm fairly certain you should be able to get away with not removing the driver's side motor mount, passenger side you might need to. I've seen others do the passenger side.

I am adding the BMR brackets and mounts. Stock came out relatively easy. Getting the BMR aftermarket bracket back in was a nightmare in the drivers side. The highest bolt towards the front of the car was impossible. I cross threaded it a bit and had to back it out, then find a grade 8 bolts and make a thread cleaner. I had to tear the mount back out and carefully feed the thread cleaner bolt in to the block working it back and forth in order not to strip or break anyrhing. Once that was finished I had to put the new bracket and mount back in, and after another hour of playing, try to put it in the hole with your eyes closed I finally got it. I was so annoyed I stopped with only one side done.

Dang. Rwally hope mine go better.

Corsa is also recommending pulling all 8 studs per side. Others seem to keep at least thr last stud. Any reason I should listen to corsa?

I am hoping once I add the bmr mounts and brackets, that there is ample clearance for this new addition.
