For anyone who has done long tubes or removed the motor mount brackets, has anyone encountered issues with removing the ground wire on the passenger side motor mount bracket? It seems the diameter of the wire attachment is the same as the diameter of the stud and is nearly impossible to remove. I’ve been struggling with it for an hour and it just seems there’s no way to get it off and I’m super frustrated. This is not the part that’s supposed to be difficult.

I’m not sure if you ended up getting the ground off, but you just have to keep messing with it. Wiggle it around, up and down, side to side, whatever it takes. It will eventually open up and come off. Took me forever to get it off.

Yeah, finally did get it off but it took 2 of us well over an hour messing with it for it to finally come off. Super frustrating, especially since it’s something so simple and in every install video and post, it looks like it should just come right off. It doesn’t seem to be something that should be so difficult, so it’s annoying that things like that end up taking so long.

Glad you got it. At least you know it’ll come off a lot easier the second (or third, or fourth) time.

That is true haha, before putting it back on I’m going to open up the hole a bit just in case I do end up having to take it off again. Man is this job even worse than I thought. I don’t even understand how people who think it was bad say it took like 12-14 hours their first time. I’m up to maybe 16 hours of work now and I still feel like I’m not in a great place. I’m stuck kind of at 2 points: passenger side stock header I can’t figure out a way to get the front top nut loose (I know this is the bad one), driver side I have the kooks header in place and most bolts/nuts at least started, but the rear top bolt is very difficult to get to. Ugh, ordering more tools to try to get to these! Just want to get this all done at this point.

I did my headers on the floor on jack stands. It probably took me 14-16 hours all in. I did it over the course of maybe 4 days though. The driver side was easy and it was out and in all finished up in maybe 3-4 hours tops.

If I remember correctly, on the passenger side I just cracked the nuts loose and then used the appropriate size torx socket and removed the studs and nuts as one unit. The top nuts should all be accessible from the top side of the engine bay. I replaced all the studs and nuts with new ones except the top three rearmost on the passenger side, those got bolted in place rather than stud/nut.

Honestly, I could probably do a set of headers in half the time now that I’ve done it once, but if I had to do it again I’d likely just pay someone.

Don't feel too bad, it really is a sucktastic job on these cars. Getting done at all means you did good, don't worry too much about how long it's taking.

I'm stuck on this right now! Many curse words and strained arms have been had - namely at the "engineers" at ford. The ground wire hole is the same diameter as the stud and will not come off! I've raised the motor and left it level and still no luck...

**Update** I finally got it off, spent over an hour trying to wiggle it free with no luck. It almost seemed like there wasn't enough slack in the wire to evenly pull it off of the stud; with that in mind, I went ahead and jacked up the motor, followed the wire to the main loom, and found a bracket with a 10mm bolting it to the frame. I unbolted it and voila, I had more wire to work with! After doing this, I went back and used a 90 degree angled pick to pull down at the front of the eyelet and had my left hand pulling down the actual wire. I basically had to walk it off each thread -- hope this helps anyone in the future dealing with this PITA.

Glad that I didn't have that issue! Mine slid right off. Just did mine Saturday.
