So this one I just need to say outloud and you guys fine tune it for me….

getting the string square around the car with different track widths. I want the distance between string ends at the front and the rear of the car (at the pole) to be exactly the same width apart instead of the same distance from wheel center to string on the F & R!

What do you guys do to hold the steering wheel in place while making toe adjustments?

You want the string to be the same distance side to side from the hub face. If you pop the wheel center cap off, you can use that surface. The front distance will be a different measurement than the rear. For instance from the string to the center wheel surface might be 80mm on the front and 110 on the rear. That's to be expected, because of different track widths, etc. Just make sure that the crossbar on each end has the strings separated by the same distance so your box is square.

I use nothing, as the wheel moving has never been an issue for me. Amazon does sell some $35 wheel holders if you need.
