So have a 2021 mach 1 manual has 10k on it has a hellion TT with base turbos. Everything seems to be working great. Has 6k on the build with some roll racing here and there. Car runs great, engine has new plugs gapped at .026, new 5w30 platnium ultra, all seems well no cels or anything. Tuned by lund, all afrs look good as well. I drive it on the street at 7.5psi and runs fantastic pulls hars too 7800 rpm. But put some higher octane in to turn it up play and seems like it kinda goes flat after 8.8psi doesnt pull as hard as 7.5. Still pulls but almost like it hits a wall. Checked the tclamps all are tight, the afr is good, i thought maybe clutch. But its not shifting weird, no grinding, and its not like its hot afrs are 2 degrees over ambient when i go wot. 🤔🤔🤔. Got me kinda stumped here any thoughts

Sounds like you got it figured out. Curious how much power were you making at 7.5psi? I guess that's near the limit for the stock clutch.

All components of the driveline have to withstand additional torque and shock loading. In the old days, the philosophy was that it's better to burn up a clutch than break a transmission component or driveshaft or rear differential. At some point, the whole mustang community (and maybe others) kinda went away from that. I'm guessing because clutches have become more complex and more costly.

But yeah, if you've upped the torque output and it's burning up clutches, and you upgrade the clutch, it's now just going to migrate to the next weakest part of the system, until all components are able to handle the torque values.

This is why the RXT has the reputation of being an MT killer. It's a pretty stout clutch but more importantly, it bites/grabs hard and harshly which tends to increase the peak torque spikes the drivetrain suffers. ESPECIALLY when combined with a sticky, unforgiving tire (like thinner profile drag radials).

I'm certain the stock 3160 can handle more than the stock MT82.
