I took the car out for a drive with the exhaust set on "Quiet" to listen for ticking or clicking sounds from the engine....cold and hot.......none noticed!!:whew:

But at 63 to 65 MPH (loudest at 64 MPH) there's a weird whirring hum that sounds like it is coming from the rear end?? I engaged the cruise and applied the hand brake to see if it changed but no change??:sunglasses: Different road surfaces don't really affect it either!!:frown:

Above or below that 64 MPH speed......NOTHING but I've never driven to car in the "Quiet" exhaust mode with the windows up either!!

I also tried hearing it in the other exhaust modes and it is there just not very apparent??

Whatcha recon it might be??:inspect:

if it's at a certain speed it's almost always tire related. I was always told if you can drive through it it's tires.

I REALLY like what you're saying and almost guessed it was the P-Zeros........they are about half gone and I may replace them soon anyway!!:like:

I had P-zeros on my 2014 that I replaced a 4K miles since they were VERY NOISY!!:explode:

Sounds like it could be a wheel bearing. Jack the car off the ground, and pull hard on each wheel to see if there is any "play" or "wiggle" in the wheel. If the bearings are fine the wheel wont budge, but if one does (usually the rears) take off the wheel, run and grab a 32mm(I think) deep axle nut socket and torque it down to 150 ft lbs and a quarter turn(double check that spec).

I had a similar problem with my driver side rear backing out, torqued it back down and luckily havnt had to replace it.

P.s. I wouldn't put it past being the shitty pzeros though.

Thanks "Chi" was your noise that speed specific??

I would expect a bearing to be noisy all the time and worse at higher speeds??

Thanks......I read through most of it and tried to figger out what size socket I needed for checking mine??

Bill at CJ Pony Parts said he used a 36 MM Hub Socket but it turns out they are 32 MM for the rears and 36 MM for the fronts so I ordered both to be sure!!

I'll know more Saturday when I check 'em!!:inspect:

Well........got the 32 MM socket and used a 3 foot Breaker Bar with me swingin' on the end of it.....THEY WERE NOT LOOSE!!:muscle::sunglasses:

Just for kicks I swapped the rear tires and the noise is greatly reduced so I'm guessing it's just the noisy Pirelli tires!!

Damn! How loud is it, have you ever driven a car where the belt slipped in the tire? Got a buddy with some wheels you can try on?

P.s. lol get yourself a torque wrench and make sure those axle nuts are 150ftlbs

Hey, old thread, but assume you may have tried more tires since then. Did it turn out to be the tires? I noticed the noise at 63.5-64 mph today on my new to me GT. I have the p zero all seasons.

Praying it’s not a driveshaft or something
