PBIR Track Night in America:

You going to the PBIR Track Night this month? I'm gonna give it a shot. Already signed up. I've only done Track Days in my old Focus ST (VIR, AMP), but have never had a 400+ HP RWD beast on track. Should be fun. Any advice?

I'll throw in some unsolicited advice... don't try to go as fast as Stoli.

No, I won't be making this one; it's nearly 6 hours of driving for less than 60 minutes of track time for me. Maybe near the end of summer.

PBIR is pretty straight-forward and with a TNIA there will be a lot of beginners. Be aware of the pit out blend line - they are coming on track right where you want to go wide after turn 2. It's only an issue at the beginning of the session, but caught me by surprise when I came around there the first time.

You can brake a lot later on the back straight than you think. ;)

Other than that, have fun - and bring water. It's effin hot.

Edit/Side Note: If you've never been to PBIR realize there is nothing 'palm' or 'beach' about the place; it's out in the sticks!

Got my loud pedal back. ;) Took off the damn stock exhaust I put on for Roebling and installed the Borla Touring w/out the mid muffler, but with the x-pipe from the Ford Racing I sold. A little deeper than the FRPP/Borla Touring and not as brash/raspy. I think I like the FRPP better, but the neighbors seem to like this one more. lol

I've never really been a fan of naming cars, but I think the Mustang is now "Loud Car" and the Miata "Quiet Car". I think that's better than my other idea of "Charlotte" and "Wilbur". lol

Well there's your problem...

Coming out of turn 7, 2nd to 3rd gear shift and the clutch only came halfway up. Tried 3rd to 4th and the same thing... Nursed it through turn 8 and tried another shift on the main straight. Nothing. Floppy clutch syndrome. Coasted into the pits and called AAA.

(Dusold Designs tow hook works as designed) :headbang:

Since the trans was going to be apart I swapped from the McLeod RXT to the RST, installed a stainless clutch line, Ford Performance pilot bearing, and the obvious upgrade to Exedy throwout/slave.

Ouch..... Why do things like this never happen near home? Let us know what you think of the RST clutch Stoli. I have my eye on this since I don't want to spend the $$$ for an Exedy twin disc.

Exactly what happened to mine. I had to drive home without a clutch. Started it in 1st gear and then banged up through the box till I got home. Stock clutch no good for track days.

Wish I had waited few months before getting the rxt. All of the information now finally coming out about it being too much for the mt82. I just got the damn thing last November. Seriously thinking about yanking and selling it and swapping for rst. Take the loss vs transmission

The clutch was fine, it was the slave that failed.

I haven't driven the car much since it was done, but so far I'm glad I made the change. No more 1st gear chatter, simple and smooth engagement and overall smoother shifts. I don't think the information about the RXT vs RST is new, just new to this forum unfortunately.
