Stock Torque Converter Failure here! Updated

A hard shift does not mean breaking things. Sometimes shifting faster/harder means less clutch slip. Lund has one of the best 6R80 strategies in the game. But, parts can and do break when you're asking them to hold double the torque they were designed to hold. 6R80's are pretty robust, but again.. stock trans. Shit happens.

U can also have your tuner fine tune your shifts for how u like them,but i like mine shifting faster/harder.At cruising my shifts really smooth for the power going through it.

I thought 6R80 was rated at 590 lb ft

Got the trans off... lots of metal in the fluid and big chunks flopping around in the converter.

Sounds like you might have took out a sprag in the converter .. Either way the trans has to come apart to get all the metal out of it ...No way to get the trash out of the converter so I might be buying a good after market converter .. I guess I should ask , do you have a stock or aftermarket converter ? If after market you can sent it back for a rebuild .. If it a stocker I'm sure you can find one real cheap

My car did the exact same thing Thursday night. From a second gear roll hammered it and it broke on the 2-3 shift. Makes the same noise when in gear. However, if I let the car idle it would start to move. Any gas or load applied and it would make that noise. My guess is I broke the mid shaft. I had planned on a converter and mid shaft upgrade over the winter...guess it will be happening a little sooner than expected. Interested to know what broke.

Lots of crickets in here lately, who else has broken their stock 6r80 with 550tq? Trying to figure out if I got unlucky and a stock replacement will work or what.

Not that hard to do , you can do it yourself ..I have been doing auto rebuilds for years ( 43 years ) If you look on You tube you will find a video that shows a great do it yourself video ..:cheers:
