So Im technically within my break in period @ 240 miles. I did my first 1-> 2 shift at 6k and the back end got really loose. I figured w/275mm PP tires in the back, it would hook up better. Is this normal? I'm in GA and it's 68 degrees today. Do they coat the tires with something?

Tires do break in, but one thing to consider is that the pavement temp may have still been fairly cool despite the higher air temp.

You are driving summer tires, so they really aren't going to stick worth a darn until the temp is in the mid/upper 70's. Once the temps get into the upper 80's, they stick a hell of a lot better.

Ahh, ok. This makes sense. I wrongly assumed if it was dry and not "cold" it would be fine. I dont think i ever had summer tires on the GTO.

I don't think I've really ever gone super easy on new tires. Most of the times (especially with drag radials), I was doing smokey burnouts at the dragstrip within 20 miles. :cheers:

Wow, TR says 500 miles. I guess Dick Parker was right. With more power comes more responsibility. I obviously wont do this in my break in period, but for future tires, I could in essence burn off 500 miles of tire and then be good to go?

Fwtq is 400, compared to the 365 of my GTO on 245mm. Figured it would be at least the same considering 80% efffectiveness. But the tire break in period and temps might be the factor. I should be over 1k by St. Pattys day.

why do you guys think we have line lock? it's to "break in" the tires...

The only good thing I can say about PZeros is that they have pretty decent side wall stiffness. Beyond that, they're poop. Oh and yeah, a hard 1 - 2 shift on basically any 275 tire besides a slick or a drag radial is going to put you into an interesting situation. Street tires are street tires. Be cognizant of that.
