Hello folks, My name is Dave I'm from SW Florida and I'm currently building a single turbo S550 at the moment and from what I gather theres a lot of speculation of what these motors can handle. I haven't been on a forum in quite some time and was having some trouble navigating around and couldn't find what I was looking for lol.. any help would be appreciated

Close to 700 to the wheels is common, but you never know. Any forced induction should get billet oil pump gears at least.

I can say for sure that if you get tuned by a reputable shop that deals with these cars regularly it's definitely added insurance. I'm talking hands on dyno tune by a true professional.

I’ve seen several live at 850-900 for a while. And by seen I don’t mean on the internet, couple of friends have some hellion turbo S550s making big hp. I think with good fuel and not abusing the shit out of it they will last a pretty good while! Mines been at 700 for a year and I’m about to crank it up another 175 or so

I think we're past the speculation phase lol. Plenty of us over 850+whp without issue.

Thanks for the input, I've seen everything from 700 all the way up to 1023 to the wheels on the newer S550's... idk it could be bullshit or not but I may turn mine up to around 850 and let it eat. I have went through it and changed the oil pump gears and the crank sprocket as well. I also will be on E85 and have plenty of fuel system to support this. I will more than likely have Jon Lund tune it since I hear many great things about his abilities to keep the motors alive

How long have you been at this level?
Since January for me. Many others have been far harder on their setups without issue. Obviously there's risk of failure but these motors are impressive.

They can make plenty of power... but for how long??? I didn't get on mine too much on street and it has been done since the beginning of this year. With that being said, every pass or pull was stressful, always wondering. So I went on a preemptive strike and tore it down to save money in the long run.

My stock motor has seen over 800whp for 1.5 years and is still going well lol.

I just a had friend ask me this earlier this morning. He is building a 1000whp STi (already around 30k in parts) but always is intrigued by the Mustang ever since he rode in my last one. Like I tell him, I'd say anything up to 800whp is quite common and probably what you would consider the "the edge of the green zone" then you start moving into the yellow. But in the end it really comes down to the tuner and the person driving the car. And the rest is just luck. When it comes down to machined parts, everyone has some sort of slightly different characteristic than another which would always be the breaking point so expecting something you see someone else making is just not a reasonable thought but if you like to play, go for it. The fact that you can take a 30k car and literally double the power on stock parts is crazy in itself. To me that is why the Mustang in IMO is the best bang for your buck car for any modder.

Many gen 2 coyotes have been fine living in the high 700's low 800's range. Especially with the upgraded oil pump gears and crank sprocket, you have some pretty good room to make power.

When your ready to pull the trigger on that Lund Racing tune, we're here for you!

our rule of thumb on race gas / e85 would consider 750 pretty safe. but we have customers pushing over 900 rwhp.

we sell and install hundreds of power adders on these cars, feel free to give me a ring with any questions you have
