Greetings,

Once my warranty sunsets, I will most likely go with a decent CAI and tune on my 2022 Mustang GT. My question is; has anyone swapped out their stock air filter and installed the AEM 28-50029 dry flow filter?

I am not expecting any gains in horse power, but I was hoping it might increase the sound of the engine during acceleration, and also get some longevity in filter life. I am not interested in any of the other brands that have oiled filters. I want to stay away from them totally.

Thanks for your answers.

I installed an Injen Evolution air intake on my '22 to eliminate the restrictive factory piece with the honeycomb stuff in there. Ran it while I was waiting on my tune and didn't notice any seat of the pants difference in power, and no codes. Added a 93 octane tune which woke up the car at low rpm's. No noticeable difference in sound. The element in mine is dry.

I use a Green Filters dry filter. No real difference that you can see or feel, although it does tout greater air flow. It is washable and I have an OEM paper filter as my backup when I wash the Green filter.

I have a CAI (GT350) and I can't even notice any change in induction noise. But my exhaust is probably too loud lol

Cai wont affect warranty, not sure why ya wanna wait

any dealer who voids it over a drop in filter or CAI is smoking crack, and should be avoided. I had a fbo Ecoboost with a tune and my dealer just told me to uninstall the tune prior to any work.

as far the filter, I know this is a pic of a KN, but look at the difference in size and material, which would you honestly rather run?

With the 2022 Mustang GT's they have that ridiculous carbon filter which I have removed. The Ford Performance CAI with tune is not available for the 2022+ Mustangs due to emissions. There are now some tunes that you can install and some CAI's, but I am not sure that I want to be installing and uninstalling tunes if I have warranty work. Ford screwed everything up with the whole carbon filter emission crap in my opinion. I have an extended warranty and it sounds like a hassle. I do not see why you cant get an approved CAI and tune through Ford for 2022* Mustangs like they had for previous years. Thanks for your feedback.

I run that filter but I have a flex fuel tune so I can't say if you can feel any gain from it. No change in induction noise though. I had a JLT CAI for awhile and there was a lot of induction noise with that.

A CAI on its own won’t void a warranty unless it’s the cause of whatever issue occurs. Then warranty claim will be denied. As far as a tune, a dealer can absolutely refuse warranty claims because of it, read your warranty paperwork. If you have a dealer that is willing to look the other way, that’s great. Most will not.

They would have to resubmit for CARB/EPA approval for the 2022-2023 models. I’m assuming they figured for the somewhat limited number of cars produced in those years, it wasn’t worth the time/money to do so.

Roush did do this for their superchargers, so those are now available for the 2022-2023 models as is the Ford Performance supercharger (basically the same hardware as the Roush, tune might be slightly different).

Ask the hypothetical “How would you feel if I tuned it” then

meantime, always a Ford Tune just for a little kick, then get a real one down the line. Always something to do in the meantime

As far as the intake causing issues, as long as hes not puddle running or shit, should be fine

Correct except the 2022-2023 cars don’t have this available from FP. They never made one unfortunately.

Wtf?! Why? That just pisses me off reading that
It’s been mentioned in other threads, but I believe it’s because they would have to resubmit for CARB/EPA approval. 2022-2023 production numbers probably didn’t warrant the time/money to do so. Definitely sucks because I think that’s a good option for those that want a little something extra and still maintain a warranty.

Shame shame shame, also hate how one state ruins all the fun, should just be ignored like a toddler throwing a tantrum
