Thought I would start a thread - for the nth time. I just finished upgrading my 17 350. It occurred to me that many are using the Fosgate DSR1 so I thought it might be handy to see what others are doing and perhaps share tunes // settings.

My ride is a 17 GT 350 with the Convenience Package which includes the 9 speaker Shaker Audio System

Just had the final setup installed. Did some of the work myself Installed all of the speakers. Shop installed the AMPS, DSR1 and wiring.

Whats installed

Rockford Fosgate DSR1
https://rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/dsr1/

Plug and Play T Harness for 15 and up Mustang - HRN-AR-F03
https://rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/hrn-ar-fo3/

Morel Maximo 3 way components up front -
https://www.morelhifi.com/product/maximo-ultra/

JL Audio 6 channel XD 600 6V2 6 channels one channel for each speaker in the front.
https://www.jlaudio.com/products/xd600-6v2-car-audio-xdv2-amplifiers-98605

Auto Fanatic's rear deck sub woofer kit - note I used the MX 500 for the AMP. This is a nice setup as you preserve your trunk space.
https://www.auto-fanatic.com/product/shelby-gt350-audio-upgrade/

JL Audio MX 500/1 to drive. the rear subs.
https://www.jlaudio.com/collections...roducts/mx500-1-car-audio-mx-amplifiers-98407

Center channel speaker - disconnected - As far as I can tell it servers no purpose in such a small cabin.

So far nice improvement. Went back to the shop today to learn more on managing the DSR1. We created a base tune that I saved and will be the reference starting point. For sure the tune could be better which is a learning process around the DSR1 and the JL AMPS.

My Current settings.

Mid Bass 6.5" - Low Pass = 12 DB slope Low Pass = 150HZ High Pass = 80HZ - set to Low Pass
Mid Range Door Speakers - 12DB slope - High Pass = 500 HTZ Low Pass = 4.5KHZ - Set to Band Pass
Tweeters - 12DB slope - High Pass 4.5KHZ - Low Pass 20.0 HZ - Set to High Pass
Sub's 30DB slope - High Pass = 60HZ - Low Pass set to 100HZ - Set to Low Pass

AMP settings - these were set by the shop.

Channel 1 and 2 - Tweeters = Set to HP Filter Freq about 300 HTZ input sense about 50%
Channel 3 and 4 Mid Range = Set to HP Filter Freq about 100 HTZ input sense about 50%
Channel 5 and 6 Mid Bass = Set to HP Filter Freq about 120 HTZ Input sense about 50%

There is a 32 band equalizer for each channel so I'm beginning to see there are a lot of options.

I have done a lot of tweaking with the base tune 7 BAND EQ and the 32 band equalizers.

I save my test tunes as I try various changes.

Seems like given that you can save the tune file for the DSR1 maybe we could share our tunes for the DSR1.

Again I'm no expert and I'm pretty much learning and trying different options. I have lots of time and after selling my 66 Mustang this is pretty much all that's left to play with.

Just thinking it would be great to get feed back and suggestions going. At least with the DSR 1 I can always go back to the starting point via the iPhone APP.

Nice setup. I would love to know what you think about the rear deck sub kit. How it sounds and what sort of bass you get from that. I just ordered a pair of 10" JL 10w0v3-4 subs and plan on building or buying a Zenclosures box for them. I like the idea of saving all that trunk space. But if I make my sub box removable then I think that's a good compromise. My car is mostly driven on weekends and I have used the trunk pass through once in after a year of owning it.

Are you tuning by ear or are you using an RTA?

A note on sharing DSP files. You can do that but realize that it will require many adjustments unless the next person is using all the same speakers.

Would love to see pictures of your install if you can post them.

By ear for now but I'm planning on getting the mic ETC and getting an RTA setup.

This is. the URL I've been studying.

https://testgear.audiofrog.com/wp-c...Process-and-Some-Notes-About-Why-it-Works.pdf

I did the rear subs about a year ago. They sound great. Plenty of bass - I had to add some insulation under the rear Lisc frame to see it from vibrating. It's a nice setup - very clean.

Auto Fanatic has been around for sometime and has a really nice site. His products include car care products which I also use.

Rodger on the DSP files....

I have lots of photos - over the next few days I'll organize into a folder and then work on posting them.

Looking forward to seeing your pictures.

Good you're happy with the AutoFanatic sub system. I would have gone with those if they were just selling the kit without the amp. I already have my amplifier setup.

For $75 and using your laptop, you can have an excellent RTA system. Check out Room EQ Wizzard (REW free): https://www.roomeqwizard.com/
All you need is a calibrated USB microphone ($75): https://www.minidsp.com/products/acoustic-measurement/umik-1
Setup is easy with REW: https://www.minidsp.com/applications/acoustic-measurements/umik-1-setup-with-rew

It's so much easier with measurement equipment and you have the ability to take it anywhere and measure any system or home stereo.

Thanks for the tip on the RTA. I ordered on Amazon as it will arrive on Wednesday. If you reach out to Auto Fanatic I think he will sell the kit without the AMP.

Did some more adjustments tonight and its even better but I'm looking forward to getting the mic setup. I see you enter the mic info andit then downloads the software. based on the mic. It was $104 on Amazon. How did you connect your audio out from your laptop to the Ford head unit?

To do an RTA you just need a high bit rate pink noise track mp3 to play over the stereo. I can provide a link if you need one. No need to connect audio from the laptop. Do your tuning in real time with the RTA function running instead of doing the frequency sweep.

Once you have the calibration file for your microphone go into REW settings and tell it where you saved the cal file.

Scroll down the page until you find the pink noise tracks. You may find other test tracks you like too.

Forgot to ask - what speakers did you go with upfront? The more I mess Morel's the more I'm starting to think I may have made a mistake. The are just too bright.

Maybe because they are on the low end of Morel sets.

I have JL Audio's in my F 250 / Sony system and they seem to be way cleaner. May be heading down the same path for the Shelby.

Those Morels are soft dome so they shouldn't be too bright. Perhaps you have the gain set too high on the tweeter channels? Once you do an RTA measurement you will see.

I have Hertz Mille Pro 2-way's. MP165P3. The tweeter in the set is the MP25.3 a soft dome as well. They are not installed as of yet.

Looking at going with these

https://www.hertzaudiovideo.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/HERTZ_Mille-PRO_MPK163_Tech_Sheet.pdf

Liking the freq range - 40 to 22.5K versus the Morels that I started with 50 to 20K

Mids are are 450 to 5.5K - the Morels 500 to 4.5K

Tweeter - 5.5K - Morels 4.5K

I think these will give the tight lows and cleaner mid range I'm looking for.

Live and learn....

I'll just sell the Morels...
That's the 3-way version of what I bought. You will be very happy with the Hertz.

Are you going to use the crossovers or install as an active setup? In my case it will be active no crossovers. All the info for setup is on the data sheet. I had a terrible time getting the info for the Morels. The funny part is I went and retuned and the Morels sound better however they will never have the range of the Hertz setup. Specs don't lie.

I am going to run them active. Hertz is one of the few companies that do a good job on providing full specifications on thier gear.
