I swapped mine out today. I have a Whipple so they we're rubbing pretty good.
Dang, how much does that Whipple weigh?

I'm running the Steeda Progressive springs and have no issues what so ever. I do plan on installing a 2.9 Whipple in the spring though....

Hi everyone, just to preface this we’ve sold over a thousand of these progressive springs so far. There are only a handful of people experiencing a noise coming from the front of the car, and we were able to rectify a few of those instances by having the customer torque down the sway bar end link nut using red loctite as we found they were still coming loose after a couple weeks even when torqued to spec. A noise can also arise if the spring isn’t seated properly.

As a few have mentioned, it is common for progressive spring coils to touch when under load.

The best way for Steeda to diagnose an instance of springs making noise is to physically have the car in our possession. We actually had one customer who claimed his springs were making noise send us the springs so we could put them in our Vortech S550 - and after thorough testing on and off the track, we couldn’t get those springs to make noise.

For those experiencing noise, the frequency in the shock and other OE factors could be different, the way the car was manufactured could have a slight variation, too.

What we are going to do is send out a pair of silencer rubbers to customers who are experiencing noise from the front springs after their due diligence has been completed. As a few have mentioned, this is a simple few minute install and can be applied to the springs while they’re still on the car - you may not have to take the wheel off if you jack the car up.

Also, if you’re local to Valdosta, GA or Pompano Beach, FL and are experiencing a noise, please pm me and we can coordinate you stopping by so we can see what’s going on first-hand.

David,
The best solution you have to offer is plastic inserts ?
Mine are back in the box they came in,I think a better solution is for Steeda to take them back
and replace them with Linear's. How about that for a solution ? I wont run a spring in coil bind and
I rather not have a knock in the front of my car , Sorry, just how I roll

I put in BMR 089 fronts. Just went for a drive and it is perfect. No rattles or creaks and groans and sits very similar. I did not measure the difference but you can't see a change. I am now doing 088 on the rear.

Awesome I have SP089's sitting on my bench to replace the progressives. I already swapped the rears for SP082 when I was back there getting other things done.

Glad to hear they work as I expected.

Again this is very common, this is a ford racing lowering spring and an eibach spring. This is how progressives are designed. The spring isolators are an industry standard not a cheap fix

I seems you make the most sense, some people will just never be happy, Me personally I love my springs and have not had any issues with them. If spring isolators are this readily available I would say this is a very common problem. Especially if you are lowering a car and not changing the shocks or struts. "But that's non of my business"

If the spring is making noise the plastic isolator is a common solution. Again, if you understand progressive springs the first coils will touch under compression they are made that way. That is not coil bind.

On another note, If you remove the bump stop or trim it to much it may cause the same issue. Only trim the bump stop 1/2 inch

Again, make sure the spring is seated properly on the lower strut seat and the tail of the spring is at the end of the stop. If it is not it will cause noise.

The spring pictured in Reds 197 shows that one spring had more contact than the other which could indicate the spring was not seated properly on the lower spring seat or a bump stop issue.

I have installed several of the Steeda progressive springs in the Detroit area with no issues. The ride quality is awesome.

I have loved my progressives and am only changing because the added weight of my blower causes the knocking sound of spring hitting spring and the drop went further than I wanted because of added weight.

Otherwise the Steeda Progressives are wonderful

Not thrilled with the suggested "solution" but I'll try the isolators/rubbers if you want to send them.

Agreed. I am always willing to give any solution a try before any major replacements. It's just tough going through this issue after everything has been purchased and installed, especially for the less technical people.

SK GT, have you put red loctite on the end link nuts? I will be doing this next week and was just curious if you did this and had slight success with the noise or just seeing that the looseness of the part is eliminated?

If it's common they should have come with the spring pads. I have installed ford racing before and they had the pads on the springs already. I am not one to complain about minor shit because I mod my cars to death and understand there will
always be a trade off. The FACT is they said install error and it's not.

We took the endlinks completely off the car. Then secured the sway bar out of the way. Still had the noise. This is after pulling both strut assemblies back off the car and ensuring the springs seated correctly. They are in the correct way, which happened to be text/writing facing down. Everything is torqued to spec and has been checked multiple times.
