When my subframe was misaligned I installed my Steeda IRS support brace and one of the threads is jacked up. Now that I have my subframe alignment kit installed everything lines up perfectly except that one bolt stops at a certain point due to the threads. I was going to tap it but don't know exactly what size to use or how to figure that out. It's the very first towards the front of the car that the brace attaches with.

I don't know the answer, but it is metric and you can usually lay a tap against a fastener thread to thread to match up the size.

On my car one of the transmission crossmember bolts was cross threaded from the factory. I used a thread file to clean up the bolt and swapped it into a clean hole and took that bolt and cut a short v shaped groove into it to act like a self threading fastener. It went in and cleaned up the threads without a problem.

Pull a bolt out from the other side and use a die to check it's pitch?

Problem is that if the threads are screwed up bad enough then the tap will not be timed correctly and will ruin the good threads when it encounters them.

Ran into that with my 2005 GT when putting a UPR upper control arm mount on the car.

I have this problem with my driverside front swaybar whole (front). How much would it cost to have something like this repaired, or is it an easy fix?
