I installed the Steeda clutch spring last night, and to mirror what several others have stated, it now feels correct. Everything is just more engaged and I feel more connected to the drive train.

So with my compliments in place, I am curious to know what the downside is? Any ideas? Any facts? What is the reason Ford put the massive spring in from the factory instead of the lighter Steeda style spring? I keep wondering what their R&D showed that made it the way it is.

Thanks!

The overall spring rate is not that much different than the steeda spring but the weird feel is largely due to it being dual rate.

Ditto, I found it better than stock; it was hard to modulate the clutch especially reversing up on my driveway with stock spring.

I like to disassemble things.
What is the reason Ford put the massive spring in from the factory instead of the lighter Steeda style spring?
A more effeminate buying demographic and as such to help fight the war on women?

Just resurrecting one of the 50 steeda spring threads for guys like me that are relatively new to the forum or the GT350. It has been debated to the Nth degree by early adopters of the car and forum. Just did this simple mod and love it. I have driven manual transmission cars for 25 yrs, and the R is the only car I have stalled several times aside from learning to drive....the vague dead zone in the clutch travel as a result of dual spring assist was maddening to me personally. The Steeda isn’t really incremental in effort as the spring rate difference suggests, and I love the linear feel now...this is as attractive of a $20 spend as a few tasty pints.

I’m definitely an outlier with the clutch spring. After just a few days I reverted back to stock and an much happier with effort, modulation and feel. Must be personal preference.

Let me know if you want to get rid of it. I've been interested in trying out the Steeda spring.....although I'm not sure if it is worth it to sell and ship a $20 part to TX.

I think you’d be better off ordering one from Steeda. I’d sell it for cheap but with shipping it likely would not be worth it.

I put one in and it felt better for around town driving. NOT so much for balls to the wall high RPM shifting the pedal would stick to the floor and would pop back up once the rpm came down. I put the stock one in and the problem went away

I’m kind of a outlier myself, I prefer the NO spring at all. Feels so much better to me, in my opinion, with no assistance at all.

Wow that is strange, I'm never heard of that issue with the spring.
