For the first time just a few days ago my carplay would not work using the usb input in front of the shifter. I tried unplugging the cord/phone on both ends and trying again and nothing. I just swapped it to the center console one and it worked fine. I know in all of the manufacturers vehicle weird shit happens sometimes for absolutely no reason and there's nothing we can really do to fix it other than let it run it's course.

My 18 challenger I had before my Mach 1 had an issue 3 separate times where I was unable to get carplay to work. Tried different cords/restarting car/unplugging nothing. It just randomly decided to start working again after a completely random amount of time or after the car was shut down for some time. No consistency to it.

Because you enable it once but if you restart your phone and try again it won’t connect
So I tried it this morning. I restarted my phone and then plugged it into the Escape and Carplay strarted right up. I think there are so many variables involved (Sync software and hardware versions, iPhone version and iOS version) that it's no wonder there are so many different experiences.

I have to restart my Android sometimes as well. It's like when there is a fresh boot and there are no other applications running then it works. CarPlay might be the same sort of black magic happening.

Mine worked great every time for the first two years.

Now it's a complete hit or miss. Works fine the whole time: doesn't work at all: switches back and forth every couple seconds. I use SiriusXM still on the discounted deals. When it won't stick to either or...I rage unplug the phone.

Multiple cables: both ports.

Sometimes turning the car off then back on works. Resetting the Sync unit seems to work at least once right away before going back to "random mode".

Very very fucking annoying!!!
You might need some sort of update from the dealer.

I had no issues with bluetooth for 2.5 years, then suddenly bluetooth wouldn't play music. It connected, made calls, and showed music playing, but no sound.

I had to go to the dealer and they did some updates to the software and now my issue is fixed.
