I hope it doesn't turn out like sync 2 when it came out that they promised so much and they never delivered.

I'm back and forth right now, I'm about to order a car and I don't want to spend $800.00 on the factory nav if they are going to have carplay but I will be pissed off if it never happens and I order a car with no nav.

Do you have unlimited data on your phone? If not, get Nav or be prepared to get a GPS device.

It does to load the map but its very small amount of data unless you go satellite view.
Also most of the time the phone downloads the whole route when you start to drive so the app runs offline when there is no signal.

I mean, it has to send and receive signals constantly in order to update your current location, but I could be mistaken. I'm sure you could download certain apps that just have directions, but things like Google Maps will eat your data like nobody's business.

Edit: aaaand I was mistaken. Uses 10s of MBs which isn't that big of a deal. So there you go.

This is true. I used my iPhone's map app in Europe without data. All I had to do before I went out was load the map when I had Wifi.

Looks bad guys, I have to say I'm very disappointed in Ford at this point and this may affect my eventual purchase.

Then Sync 4 shows up...

Didn't that happen with Sync 2? They promised the apps implementation but never happened.

Is it really that hard to do an update and implement it over the air? Even my kid can program and code and if it was a project for him he would have been done by now...by himself......lol
