Going for 7's and 1500whp, launching off a transbrake and nitrous? Id much rather have the bump/transbrake, boost control, nitrous control, launch and traction control an aftermarket system has.
Why the nitrous? Properly sized turbos will spool fine and make all the power you want/need. There are a number of stock computer cars running in the 7's. I think your spending unnecessary money really.

Also if you are running a class when racing the car, most don't allow nitrous on a boosted combo.

Would you consider plugging the Di ports and running PI only?
Dual Fuel seems like a great way to make a very potent setup.
Really can't run anything like that without a standalone.
I don't know enough in that realm to comment. DI is efficient but I just personally am not upset at the negatives vs any benefits for my setup. The GOOD thing is, obviously Mustangs are a popular platform and I'm sure tuners out there are making it work.

I had an odd platform...I turbocharged a gas 5.3l truck right when they switched to DI. Not quite as much aftermarket support.

Im overbuilding the car for the future. I don't want to spend X amount, hit one finite goal, say Im finished...and then want more ...which always seems to happen...to have to go for a WHOLE new setup. In the long run it'll be money saved.

I see, I wouldn't mind ditching it for big boy power but for dd its quite an asset.

Hello fellow KY bro. Gimme a shout when you get this thing up and running, I'd love to scope it out.

So what are you doing with this car? Is this a dedicated race car or streetcar or combination of the two? I didn’t see what year car you’re working on. I take it that this is a dedicated strip car cause you want to bump in and use a transbrake, Am i assuming correct, yes or no?

Yep, dedicated. It's a 2017.

So I have a RPG long block coming. It’s spec’d for 1800rwhp. It’ll be tuned for 14-1500rwhp. It’ll be tuned on the stock ecu. You can add on progressive nitrous or methanol controllers, you can add in bump boxes, etc.
Not sure if you seen the parameters inside a stock ecu, but there’s a lot of stuff going on in there that a stand-alone can’t compete with.

could you expand on what your build process consists of (parts etc..)? I take it you’re doing the tuning?

Im not a fan of Holley ecu. If I were to spend big $$$ on a aftermarket ecu, it would be motec, but unfortunately I don’t believe they have a system for the 18’s and up

Interesting. No I won't be doing the tuning, that is out of my wheelhouse and not something I want to experiment on with the cost involved. I had decided to go standalone for a few reasons...firstly my good friend that tunes extensively uses Haltech quite a bit, secondly, a lot of car sectors I've ran in before so to speak generally went standalone due to the stock ecu limitations. If you could point me in the right direction I'd be all ears...If I can do it cheaper and get the job done I'm for it.

Car will be running a th400 (haven't decided on converter), 9 inch rear w 3.5 gear, air to water setup, 88 or 91mm turbo with 50 wet off the hit. 29.5x10.5 slick...yes I know a bit overkill but I'm trying to make a little room for a non-optimal suspension setup.

Stock head minus valve springs+retainers (potentially valves), triple pump fuel system with a BAP due to the fact I already have most the setup, built bottom end (3.7 bore pistons/rod/crank/sleeves)

I worked with Lund tuning my previous setup. If I can get things to work that way I'd be all for it.

I went with the AEM Infinity System to help manage high hp Whipple combo. So far it has worked amazing and we are just getting into it. Finishline Performance in Milford Ohio installed it. So far I have been 7.9@178 with a soft 60ft hit.

Do you do your tuning RoadCone? If so how is the interface versus other systems if you've used them?

I do not. Eric Holliday does the main part of it and My Crew Chief does it according to the track. I plan on being a little more hands on this season and learning.

Im a bit in the same boat. I've heard Haltech's interface is super user friendly. I'm sure any of the big names won't be TOO terribly different.
