I've experienced the braking noise after washing my car on pretty much all my vehicles but that goes away after braking a few times. Unfortunately my brakes sound like this even after the brakes have warmed up. They turned my rotors but now I'm going to ask that they replace them because it's just putting premature wear on them. Don't want to sound like an asshole in my response but I'm really annoyed by all this.

I say have them replace your fronts (where the noise is coming from?) and see if it goes away, I don't think that's an unreasonable demand for a $40k car.

If it still goes away, there are bigger issues afoot.

Got my Mustang back this morning and Cerritos Ford (2nd Opinion Dealer) is saying it's normal because like some have said they're high performance brakes and they have to be broken in. So after 3000 miles (their estimate) all should be well. I call bull shit cause my Mustang is the only one they've dealt with that has this issue. So f@(#*n annoyed right now. They did tell me to take it back so their director can drive it when it stops raining. We'll see where we go from here. I did ask that they replace my rotors since they turned them when the pads were replaced.

I've decided to name my mustang "Ms. Piggy" cause it sound like a squealing fat pig.

Mine squealed this morning. My previous car had this issue. It is common with high performance brakes. The fix on my old car was to go from 60 to 5mph as fast as you could a few times in a row.

Did it permanently go away or kept having to do this? We'll see what happens.

On my last car you needed to do it every few hundred miles if you drove the car like a street car.

So far the mustang has only done it once when it had been sitting a few days.

2 of my buddies corvettes both squeal at low speeds. My 2010 M3 makes noises at slow speeds. The 2014 M4 I test drove with carbon brakes made noises at slow speeds. A friend of a friend's Ferrari 458 Italia makes noises.... wait for it... at slow speeds. Not trying to be an ass here but I think some of you are being overly paranoid about your PERFORMANCE brakes. You want quiet brakes go get cheap ceramic pads and kiss your stopping power goodbye.

POOPonYOU can you post a video up of said noise so we can hear it? I think that would be a little more helpful, so we can determine if you have a legitimate problem or not. Not saying I dont believe you, but to some people certain noises may be considered normal.

So it sounds like some performance cars do, and some don't. It also sounds like some mustangs do and some don't. I'd still like to take it in to have it checked. Perhaps it's just something simple. Or perhaps it's normal operation.

I also get a minor squeal when I'm braking while turning slowly to the right. It seems to be worse when the wheels are wet. Not hideous, but wasn't thrilled to hear it on a new car. I was going to give it a few hundred miles to see if the pads just need to break in. Sounds like a fairly common issue though. I'll solve it just by only turning right at speeds greater than 30 mph:D

I don't own a mustang yet so can't comment on those brakes specifically but over here I have performance pads on my car and they squeak at low speeds whether they are cold or just been abused on track.
TBH it's very hit and miss with these pads as to how much you suffer with brake squeal. I have had 2 sets of the same pads now and only the 2nd ones squeak but other friends run the same pads and a good % of them don't have the squeak OR have had the squeak on one set and then not the next.
I spoke to a very good mechanic who looks after our cars and he said that all things have a build tolerance and you will find it's the pads that are tight fitting that will cause the most noise. You want the pad to have a very slight play in the carrier to cater for heat cycles. With this in mind we had a look at a few cars with and without the squeak and guess what.....the ones with the squeak issue had tight fitting pads. The pads we use by the way are Ferodo.

I've had a 2004 Infiniti G35 coupe, after that my 2010 Nissan 370z and now a 2014 Hyundai i30/Elantra GT... The've all experienced this noise coming from the brakes, even though the pads aren't worn out or still have padding left. What I was once explained by my mechaninc is that this noise is normal. Its normal if you get ocasional squeals coming from the brakes. The reason is due to dust on the brake pads or due to passing through water at some point, to the end where the brakes get wet and due to the disc heat, water crystals form due to rapid temperature changes and that causes the brakes to squeal once you brake. To fix that, if you have crystal formation on the discs and pads... You would need to shed the crystals by braking hard or possibly letting ABS do its thing by pumping the brakes a couple of times. If its dust on the pads and discs, try cleaning it off and drying them off. However, some pads tend to create more dust than others. Just a thought to keep in mind. Has worked for me thus far... Hope the info helps :D - Gus.

p.s. I have a 2015 Mustang Ecoboost on order and just have to get rid of my 2014 Hyundai i30 / Elantra GT first. Only 8,800 km/5468 miles on it... Been a good car so far, but I cant let a chance to own a s550 pass me by.

The car is at the dealer as of last night. Dropped it off for the first oil change, and for them to check the brakes. I'll report back once I hear from them.

Update:

Service writer just called, the tech verified that the brake noise was extremely loud. They are going to replace the pads and machine the rotors. I'll report back after I pick up the vehicle and have a chance to check the brake noise.

I have had my car for about a week and I am having the same issue. The brakes on my vehicle squeak very loud the first 1-3 times I apply brake pressure. After that all is fine and there is no noise. Very annoying and I plan on dropping off at the dealer so they can take a listen. I have about 500 miles on it now. I recently installed the steeda sport springs and I thought maybe that had something to do with the noise but I don't think that is the case.

I had the same squeal. I was pulling up to show off my ride to my coworkers and slowly braked. That's when it happened the horrendous loud squeel came out of no where. Guess that's one way to make everyone in the parking lot look at you. I only have 200 miles on it so hopefully once it breaks in the noise will go away.
