I just took my '15 GT-PP on its first road trip. I had to go to Las Vegas for work, so why not take the Mustang?

From Phoenix, including all of the driving around LV, it was about an 800-mile round trip. I now have just over 2,200 miles on the car.

As soon as I hit the first patch of highway that wasn't glass-smooth, I noticed squeaks and rattles. Now, the headlight switch trim piece has been gently squeaking since mile number 200. However, the rear window surround pieces squeak/rattle annoyingly. Is this a common thing?

I suppose I could file a warranty claim, but if it's a quick fix I'd rather just do it myself. However, just "living with it" is out of the question.

Thoughts?

I have both squeaks. In the Warranty Issues TSB section there's a thread with a Service Bulletin to fix the headlight squeak. I'm getting both looked at next service. Hopefully it'll get cleared up.

Both are very prevalent in my ecoboost with 8000 miles. I've learned to live with it but don't like it one bit. I had the TSB done on the headlight switch but it didn't change anything.

There is a TSB for the headlight switch rattle? Anyone have a link or pdf? I just stuffed the corner of a business card on the bottom and right edge of it. Works great, but not my preferred fix.

even new bentleys have squeaks and rattles, they are cars. can you imagine making something with eleventy billion parts screwed together and sending it down different surfaces with varying harmonics and trying to get it not to make any noise?

yeah right! turn up the radio. or go ride in something from the 90s, 80s, 70s, 60s, 50, etc and see how quality they seem to you....

heck, go get in a fox body and see if the interior doesn't fall apart when you touch it. you are driving the most well constructed mustang ever made.

Unfortunately the hotter your climate, the worse the squeaks and rattles will be. Expansion and contraction... its very difficult to eliminate it all and still have the required flexibility/rigidity everywhere.

My 2013GT vert had plenty of rattles, but this little 2015 Cyclone engined vert is rattle-free... Am I just lucky or what?

I have a rattle on drivers side, side window it sounds like, or the top of the seatbelt holder.

1500 miles

What are they doing for the headlight switch

My a/c vent to the left of the steering wheel, has a buzzing sound. If I push on it the sound goes away, but when I let go it comes back. Even the magnaflow comp series doesnt get rid of it!

Last year my wife and I bought a 2015 Mazda 6. It now has 19,000 miles and has never once had a single squeak or rattle.

The interior is nicer, too.

I just wish my Mustang -- which is way more fun to drive -- could have interior on quality with the 4-door sedan I bought that cost $10k less.

My most annoying/prevalent squeaks are the following 2:

Passenger dash or glovebox. Seems like opening/closing the glovebox helps, something with the latch system or the back connection...

Rear seat "buzz" over harder bumper or at high speed on freeways. Most people seem to think it is that "loose" piece of foam in there. I just haven't gotten around to pulling the panel out and fixing it.

Same here. 7200 miles and zero noises of any kind except the beautiful exhaust noises. I have a ton of aftermarket suspension parts, too.

That's good. There are lots of Mazdas out there rattling away....

For the record, my Mustang doesn't have any rattles (yet). Wouldn't it be great if one example was a relevant sample size?

Also, I am sure you know lots of things affect harmonics....suspension, wheels, tires, etc....Compare yours to your wife's and you can add up the reasons why more road gets to more interior.

All of these things are common on early-production cars. If the car was built in the first 6 months of production, the OEM will typically use "prototype" components while production parts are being evaluated & approved. Even production tooling gets tweaked after 6-12 months based on customer feedback & complaints.

I'm not saying you shouldn't buy first year models but know the risks.
