I agree about the high temp paints - hence multiple coats and still not happy - so finally multiple coats of Halfords car lacquer (not high temperature)

- the exhaust tips actually dont get that hot anyway

Bob
Aslong as you're not expecting the inside to stay lacquer you'll be alright, with enough layers of heat paint on the outside it'll keep it cool.

I've got some stupid expensive satin lacquer on mine (ÂŁ23 a tub...)

I ended up spraying a little more than the tips, after I realised how bad they were :D

They look nice, haven't re-fitted them yet. I'm hoping the Hammerite paint is hard wearing.

Not sure if this helps anyone but here goes...
The biggest trick is roughing up the stainless surface so that it’s dull all over. Paint won’t stick to shiny surfaces all that well obviously.
I tried and tried to get a decent finish out of a can but no good. You simply can’t get a professional finish from a spray can.
In the end, I had mine painted in 2 pack by a pro.
6 months later, still beautiful.
I went gloss black which was a mistake. Looks “ok” but semi-gloss or matte would blend in better.
I also painted all visible surfaces of the muffler cos it would look stupid having black tips with shiny stainless visible from the rear of the car.
All in all, much better than chrome in my opinion.
