I have yes - and I was dreading being asked ...

Thatā€™s what I am trying to achieve, but at the same time itā€™s not - if that makes any sense lol

I going to try not to sound like an arse with what I say here - hopefully it will come across OK :like:

There are a few key differences in what I am aiming to achieve.

1. I am yet to find a slant that fits the OE tips perfectly. The OE tips are perfectly contoured to suit the curvature of the car. I think they (ford) got this bit perfect, they just didnā€™t use the nicest looking tip. I want the new tips to follow the ford tips exactly.

2. Following on from the above, I donā€™t want to see a difference in the OE tip and the replacement trim (if you looked in the ends). In my opinion the rolled in tip end needs to wrap around the existing end for the full circumference i.e. it needs to look like it was specifically designed for it / that it could be actually be OE.

Other than that I think the ā€˜boltedā€™ v ā€˜weldedā€™ is a personal thing with me preferring the bolted option due to the ease of fitment (no dropping the exhaust) and the possibility of quickly switching between brushed, polished, painted, ceramic coated finishes etc without the need to weld a painted or coated tip or masking off once fitted etc. Quick fit at home, no specialist tools, no specialist skills, no fitting costs etc.

I do think @sabtaj1 has done a great job and itā€™s a 100% improvement on how they left the factory :sunglasses: Itā€™s certainly gives me motivation to see this little project through - once I have my car ...

Hopefully Iā€™ve not sounded too bad with what Iā€™ve written ? :like:

In the meantime, if anyone finds a tip that matches the OE slant please shout up - it could save me quite a lot of work ! :like:

Everyone has their own preference, I will also see what I can find for a more slant rolled edge tip... Give me something to do while being slow at work. ps... with my tips painted blk inside and out you cant even see the factory tip unless you get close and really look for it inside the tips. I swear I seen a more aggressive slant cut tip. I'm on the hunt!

I am with you as to the bolted on, much easier and faster, with the possibility of removing them at a future date with the same ease.

too bad these are so long. I would think a shorter version could be a true bolt on... like band clamp style... If they were 8" I think they would be golden! May be close. But I think our factory tips are 3.5" OD as well, but the 3.5 OD of the tips could easily be stretched open a hair by any exhaust shop to fit 3.5ID. I will keep looking

My guy will only go to prototype once I commit to an order with a 50% down payment on the batch.

They will look like this generic picture :

But sized and angled to fit the mustang perfectly and with a brushed (satin) finish. The aim will be to have the original exhaust end tucked up inside that internal return lip.

They will be secured at the back of the trim on the top face with a single M5 using a tig welded boss.

I had the official AC Schnitzer exhaust (made by Remus) on my M3 and this is how the twin upswept trims mounted. It works really well and allows for tiny adjustments / perfect alignment :like:

NOTE : the mustang trims WONā€™T be upswept ... lol

The ideal number is 25, but more than anything holding up the process, WD won't order the batch of 25 until his car that is on order arrives and said car's production is currently halted given the coronavirus. So its really just a waiting game until the production starts back up and his car is delivered. There seems to be adequate interests and I don't think he'd struggle to move the tips once purchased.

I believe it got handed over for transport on the 21st of July and according to Fords system, itā€™s expected at my dealer the last week of August - fingers crossed ...

Out of interest, are you from the north west ? Itā€™s just I havenā€™t seen many facelifts around here but Iā€™ve noticed a blue one around more than a few times ... :like:
