Speed sensitive volume problem

Its not a very noticeable change when it does happen, and that's the whole point. Uses ambient noise of the car to slightly adjust the volume up and down and should theoretically change so that the sound level of your radio seems constant as you drive. The only time I ever notice a change is when I come to a quick complete stop on a fairly loud road. The sound will noticeably get quieter. always does it in the same two spots on my commute to work. I would imagine the more you drive the chances of you noticing it would increase.

I have two other cars (non Ford) that have the feature. When you select 'High' or the most change it should be noticeable.

I ran tests yesterday where I made the volume barely audible at idle - it never went up.

Also set the volume load at highway speed (roof down) and it never when down when I hit a stop.

This is not working.

I would agree that the lower level settings it should be more subtle. but on High? It should at very least be perceivable.

I'll rerun my tests with the roof up today.

Are you trying to notice with the top up or down.? it won't work top down.. if you notice when the top finishes going up like your audio stops for a second. That is the ACM reconfiguring to top up.. it changes audio with top down..

I'll be happy if this is just user error and if I use it properly I can actually tell that it working.

Well when the top goes down it adjust to the fact it can no longer adjust to interior noise.. so it can't determinate what extent to adjust the volume.. it isn't just speed dependent..

So once the top goes up the ACM adjust and re activated the mic and noise cancelling system and the speed dependent volume will work again..

Put your top up and pay close attention as the top closes.. and listen to the audio.. you will here

I will say.. this is only my understanding go the system.. I am not saying I am correct without a shadow of a doubt.. but this is what I ran into with my convertible.

The convertibles have a few thing different.. just like lacking auto up windows..

Un fortunately we got hit with some snow and ice here and I couldn't take it out the rest of the weekend.

If ford punted on the speed sensitive volume when a convertible top is down that will be a total fail. Those are the cars that need that feature most. My 14 year old Miata had it and it worked great.

Hopefully I can get out and run some tests before it gets sloppy this week.

Ok Nicer weather here so I was able to test again.
With the top up, and from a standstill.
1. I made sure the setting for speed sensitive volume was at it's highest setting.
2. Set volume to 1 lowest audible amount at idle
3. Drove to 65mph - no increase in the volume (couldn't hear anything at speed) and when I manually check the volume it was still at 1.

Shouldn't it get louder, at least noticeably when its at the highest setting?

On my '06 and my '10 it worked well. I couldn't even put it on the highest setting or it was too loud compared to sitting still. In my '15, I can't tell a difference with it set to max and I've had 18,500 miles and a year to try to hear it.

I have the rear mic disconnected (to avoid the symposer) and set mine to high. It definitely boosts the sound by quite a bit on 7. I have the stereo with the sub if it makes any difference.

I just got off the phone with the service manager. He claims it just doesn't work well. I maintain that it doesn't work at all.

It's a few model years later now, does this work for anyone? Kinda disappointing having to monkey with the volume quite a bit while driving. Especially when you went with the upgraded sound system.

I have a 2019 with Sync 3 and the B&O audio. Worked great on my 2008. Seems to do nothing at all on my current one, on High or Low.

I hope it's not something as stupid as my paired smartphone limiting something. I think there was an alert/warning on my phone about volume blah blah blah when I first connected them.
