Picked up the car from the dealer last week and finally stretched its legs last night. Car was pulling nicely until it reached 124mph. Foot pinned to the floor, top end of 6th in the 10-speed; car wouldn’t budge, speed limited @ 125mph. I have a 2022 GT Premium w/ the performance pack and thought that the limiter would be more like ~155 mph. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a setting I am missing? Is it in some kind of dealer mode that they forgot to disable? Is it in some kind of protected break-in mode? I’m going to try and dig through the manual tonight and see if there is anything. Might be time for a tune already! If there is already a thread about this that I am missing, please link it.
2018 PP pulled through 147 mph on the highway and was still climbing, and dyno'd in 7 gear at 165 mph...

So are we to believe that the ECU or pertinent computer is programmed to passively change modes when the car crosses 1000 miles? It isn’t dependent on the change being made by a dealer when your car goes in for service?

I understand what the OP has been told but this is a little hard for me to swallow. I can neither imagine Ford going to the trouble and complexity of having a program counting down mileage nor can I see them depending on a dealership visit, which many people never make. Most of all, I can’t imagine such a thing not being common knowledge.

Plus, if the car is limited trying to protect itself why limit top end only when it would be much easier and make more sense to limit engine RPM? My new ‘22 has fewer than 500 miles and while I have have only barely tickled 3 digits on the big end, it’ll sure twist up to 7400-7500 RPM in the blink of an eye.

I think I need to know a little more to be convinced.
Probably isn't that complicated. A simple line of code that limits the speed until after the 1k threshold (or whatever the threshold is) would do it I'd think.

Why limit speed and not RPM? I wonder if this is more for the diff, if true.

Right, whatever the parameter it is, doesn't seem too complicated.

From my limited knowledge (might be being generous, lol) aren't a lot of engine failures caused during extended high speed pulls? Think like 3rd to 4th, then 5th and just pullin it all the way to 150 or 160 mph. Could limit the speed for that, or for the diff like you said (I have no idea but seems feasible.)

Still pulling at 140 when you got out of it?

So I’m wondering now if this is another peculiarly just with the ‘22s?

There really should be a way to get answers from Ford on stuff like this.

I know the ecoboosts are limited to 122 mph unless you have the PP1 package for 15-19 models and HPP package for 2020+ which gives you the GT 4 piston front calipers and upgraded GT rear calipers and bigger diameter rotors. Or Brembo's with the magnaride package. If you upgrade your brakes on a non PP1/HPP model ECO you still have to get a dealer to remove speed limiter or use the HP tuner VCM editor to remove it.

Part of the limiter is likely due to the tires speed rating on the base models. I had this on a Camaro that only came with H rated tires and when I upgraded to Z I had to get a tune because the dealer would not remove the limiter.

I do not believe that's true for Fords since my eco premium has ZR rated tires on it from factory, it has to do with the 2 piston brakes not being deemed sufficient to slow the car down from speeds above 122 mph is what I have read.

Funny how my 64 Tri power Goat that would do 150 mph and only had non power 4 wheel drum brakes with a single cylinder master cylinder slowed down sufficiently from those speeds at least a couple times before the brakes began to fade. I managed to survive the much less effective brakes on the old muscle cars, I believe I can manage with today's brakes. Just another big brother nanny trying to manage our lives.
