It would be nice to use the existing sub wiring rather than do all new from the front of the car.
So let me rephrase my question; has anyone replaced the shaker sub with a self powered sub and repurposed the existing wiring?

Okay, I spent hours searching, googling, etc. and here is what I came up with.
For the power it's best to run directly from the battery with a fuse, and ground near the trunk.
But I would still like to use the shaker sub connector for signal and turn on if possible.
So which wires on the connector would I use?

Thank you Cathul!

If I'm reading it correctly;
Pin 1 is the turn on signal
Pin 2 is ground
Pin 5 is power (not sure how many amps)
Pin 7 is speaker +
Pin 8 is speaker -

I wonder if pins 7 and 8 are already crossed over as a low pass?

As far as i know they are.
Crossovers and EQ is done in the DSP module (which is contained in the amplifier in the drivers kickpanel).

I just read that the SW I listed above does not need the remote turn on feed if you use the high level input, which appears to be crossed over at the connector.

Also, if pin 5 goes to fuse 5, that is a 50A relay. But since it is only 14 ga wire, the sub will need a dedicated power wire from the battery.
I think I have a game plan now and the sub has been ordered.

Just to throw it out there,
I did a sub upgrade on my 16 shaker pro.
The amp turn on voltage is only 6 volts, not enough for the aftermarket amp.
Just saying........

Thanks for that info that I also read or saw on youtube.
As post 7 says, I should not have to worry about that...

I was doing a used car inspection on an Audi that was traded in here and it had the subwoofer in the spare tire from the factory, which made a light bulb go off. I was thinking how might I get this to work in the mustang. Then a day later this thread popped up. I didn’t know anyone made this until you posted it.

Got it mounted for a fit check and going to wire it up today.
Anybody know how many feet of wire to go from the battery to the trunk?
I'm thinking about 15'...

To the spare tire area? 15' would barely be enough.
I ordered 17' to connect to my amp in the spare well and cut a piece off for my ground connection (covered it in black sleeving). That was enough wire to go to the center of the spare area. I had about 1' left over. I would buy 17' to be sure you have a little extra. Better than not enough.
