Yep Tom, the instructions are correct EXCEPT for that last little diddy of leaving it in the slot long enough to get the confirmation on the front (not NAV) display (I THINK.) Feeling pretty stupid not being able to remember for sure but I hope that's it, Earl.
I remember it took me many tries, the timing was the key IIRC. You need to rehearse the sequence of events and do them exactly as stated.

It looks like there is a problem with the key fob, when I do the procedure in the owners manual it says key not found programing failure. Next step is to return fob and order one from AutoNation, unless someone knows of a better place to get the fob.

Here is the procedure for programming a spare key. They aren't kidding about the 30 second time limit. I recommend using a stop watch.
It didn't work for me, but it was because of a defective Fob.

I ran into failure after failure. Keep trying. And yes, a stopwatch would be helpful.

Earl, don’t give up. For me it took a bunch of times but I figured out the fob wanted to be a certain way in the hole. I will take another look at the sequence to how I did it tomorrow and see if I can point you in the right direction.

Earl: You may indeed have a defective unit but based on our experience, I'd say keep trying because what you're describing is what we all experienced UNTIL we figured it out.

I bet I ran through those steps twenty times before I got it.

@Snoopy49 I spent a little time this morning remembering how I got it to work. I think the most important factor was how the fob was positioned in the slot. Line all 3 keys up the same way in the tray under the NAV to help you keep track of the alignment. The fob needs to be placed in the slot with the narrower end (where key ring goes) down, and the buttons towards the rear of the car. When I discovered this, I called Kent and walked him through it over FaceTime. I hope this makes sense to read, otherwise PM me for my number and we can talk over the phone.

I tried it every way possible and it still comes up with "No Key Detected - Program Failed" when I stick in the spare key (last key) and hit start. I am pretty sure that the key FOB is defective or the battery is dead. I contacted the dealer and he told me to send it back for a refund, no hesitation, my guess is that his isn't the first bad one he has run across.
The 30 seconds they warn you about is set in stone, if you take longer than that you will get no message and the spare will not be programed. That's when I got the stop watch and timed myself. The 5 seconds mentioned seems to be a little more flexible, you just need to be sure you don't exceed 30 seconds overall.

Where did you guys order your keys from?

Some of the following video looks familiar. You need 2 working keys plus the one you want to program in the car.

My friend is a parts manager at a Florida dealer. He ordered them for me and Kent. I can set you up with him if you would like.
