Just pulled the tube out. I don't have a cap yet for the stock intake. Does it matter if it's not capped off? Being as the sound tube usually runs off there figuring maybe that doesn't matter? Seems weird though having a hole there. I'm guessing the sound tube didn't really let air out just some sound?

Yes, you need to cap the port on the intake tube. Otherwise, unfiltered and un-metered air will be going into the engine.

Yeah I forgot these don't have a map sensor right on throttle body.

You should also be concerned about CO2. Slight chance but potentially dangerous consequences.

I called the firewall hole. Put the grommet that comes with jlt intake.

I'm
Just doing a before dyno tomorrow and then putting intake and Lund tune on and then re dyno.

I'll just connect the sound tube to intake and leave other end disconnected.

10mm swivel ratchet wrench.

I don't understand why some guys won't listen. It's a $15 single wrench at Sears. Or $15 for a set of them at home depot.

I didon't remove intake. It in no way needs to be removed.

Unbolt the strut brace and swing it out of the way.

Pull the sound tube off the intake, grab it and flip it up and over the cam covers.

Pull cam cover and dip stick

Run your left hand and forearm above the manilfolds/ along the plugs. Put wrench on the nut and ratchet off.

Hold beer with right hand
Just pulled the tube using this method. Worked great. Thank you!

Glass of wine instead of a beer though.

So I just tried this to a T, but I have Andre the Giant hands. Went from 0 to 100 real quick, and ripped it off. Screw that tube!

I just looked at removing mine, to see how easy it is, I can't even see where tube goes into bulkhead. Our battery is on N/s

I cut off the sound tube under the K member and capped it off. Since I only needed to cap the intake tube I bought a 1" I.D. silicone cap for the intake. I didn't want any surprises with cheap rubber disintegrating, down the road.

If you just give it a good pull, it comes right off. Who cares if it breaks? I installed LTs, ripped it from the top and threw the plug in.. 2 seconds. :headbang:

How big is the hole in the firewall, and what is everyone using to plug it?

I used Ford Plug W651016-S300 to block off mine.

If you close to the Detroit Metro area, you can have my second one.

Finally got that turd out of my engine bay. Getting my engine cover and coil covers painted. Dropped them off at JLT today (thanks Vinny!) Having a PP car I found the only way I could reach the fire wall plug was to remove the strut tower brace and K brace.

Instead of removing that POS nut off of that long A$$ stud, I just twisted and pulled and the tube was out in a matter of seconds! Thanks to those who suggested that method earlier in this thread.

Firewall plug was a tight fit but it's in!

All cleaned up and ready for new covers!

Plug on intake tube.

Wasn't bad with the exception of having to remove the braces! Took about 45 minutes. Time well spent.

^^^ Did you get the firewall and intake tube plugs in a kit, or find them at a hardware or auto parts store?
