I've driven stick shift in California traffic for almost 20 years, it's no big deal. It becomes second nature quite quickly.

I mean... its everything I want, and its 1 month closer then my retail order, but its just a stick... I think I will do it.. Im gonna call the dealer tomorrow, and PRAY that no one has this car reserved yet. Thank you for the feedback so far, it sounds promising lol. (Makes me wonder how pissed the dealer is gonna be at me) oh well, my retail order will sell fast... granted i lose my 1000$ down payment to reserve the car.. maybe this other dealer can help me out with that, and not make me pay MSRP ..
go buy a mustang club of america membership for $50 and save yourself a couple of thousand bucks getting x-plan! it is really easy to do.

This is my FIRST brand new car, my FIRST V8. I'm only 20 years old, and i want this car to really.... "be something" since im paying an arm and a leg for it and i work my ass off to get it, lol. I mean, I hear all the time from my buddies, "it isnt a mustang unless its a stick" :p

I know i can learn, but, i just dont want to learn and find it to be annoying or not worth it..

I just did the calculations with my trade in i got quoted and with my down payment, I actually get everything i get with the auto plus more for roughly the same price...
I'm in the same situation. I'm turning 20 and ever since Ford released the S550 I fell in love with it and the big question arose... "manual or automatic?" A lot of my friends are into the car scene and I kept asking them the same question and all they did was give me crap that I was even considering an automatic transmission for a muscle car. I live in SoFlo and there is a decent amount of traffic but nothing to steer me towards getting an auto again. I currently drive an Scion that is automatic and when I even drove my friends 2006 GT it was just a totally different experience. There is no other feeling like rowing through the gears of a loud American V8 :headband:.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I just called and asked if anyone has their name attached to that stock order and the guy said he didn't think so, but the inventory manager will be calling me back in a few hours once he gets in.. (Fingers crossed)

I know I can learn it, I was just worried about regretting making the decision is all lol.. I think it will be fun

Reasons why I chose an automatic over a manual:

1. the traffic in Little Rock is crazy when I get off work. About a 40 min drive in stop and go traffic and i live maybe 15mins from work. if it wasn't stop and go all the time, id get the manual no problem

2. while sticks are ALOT of fun to drive on the drag strip and you get the full meaning out of shifting it.... you just can't out shift a computer. I've been shittin on manuals on the strip for the longest.

7 years of driving a stick in DC/VA/MD traffic and I wouldn't have it any other way. For one year I owned an auto and became bored very quickly and I never felt connected to the car. Just my .02 cents
THIS^^

I drive downtown traffic every day for several years. Granted the Focus and a Celica clutch were probably lighter than a Mustang's, but it was never a problem. I will forever drive stick lol. Not a problem in traffic when you get a little practice, Just be careful the first few times. Extremely fun and rewarding. I actually get frustrated when I drive Autos because they just dont shift when I want or it takes too long.

your 20? You will NEVER get the same sensation accelerating with an auto as when you row through the gears. Adrenaline rush with that much HP
