I think you’ll be fine. Lots of drag racers slip their clutches when launching to get the car to hook without blowing the tires off.

ive smelled my clutch before with no seemingly adverse effects, but i've never smoked mine before. I'm guessing you'd shaved off quite a bit of life off it, but you know what... they're consumable and need to be replaced anyways after some time. Lesson learned.

Like a dent or a Ding, the first burn is the worst burn. You may have not realized it yet but, you've just developed a bit of muscle memory. That left leg probably won't repeat th same exact action again. As others have said you will probably be fine if it wasn't a repeated offense. You may develop a bit of clutch chatter (or not) as a result of.glazing. Be a little easier on it, don't over think the situation and enjoy it for what it is.

True that. I used to park all the way at the end of the lot. Now I have so many paint chips and scratches I'd probably take it through a full touch car wash lol.

It’s not good. You likely added tens of thousands of miles of wear in a single go. It is relatively brand new car, so you may be ok. Instead of needing a new clutch at 80k miles, you may need one at 40k miles. Hopefully.

You will know. A slipping clutch will become obvious. At least it’s just a clutch. They are meant to be replaced. It’s just the longevity that is the variable.

I will never ever forget the video of that one idiot in the yellow corvette who tries to do a burnout and melts his clutch on the spot. He also confused dying clutch for smoking tires.

Pretty rookie move. I assume you are young so that’s part of the game. I blew up an integra swapped civic hatchback at the drag strip in my late teens in front of hundreds of people. Blew out oil and engine shards all over the track and shut the track down for a half hour.

Not as embarrassing as roasting my clutch to death trying to do a burnout, but still pretty damn humiliating. We live and learn.

I blew the stock clutch out of my GTO at the drag strip at 7K miles. Replaced it with an LS7 clutch and never had another problem. I will say the twin disc with the D4 has held up very well through 23K miles.

Line lock mode (if you have it) would likely have been what you wanted to use, and not the parking brake.

Line loc is the preferred way, but the key there is, you have to dump the clutch to do it right. Failure to do so can result in riding/smoking the clutch as well. It’s a very quick action. It also saves your rear brakes, although some people prefer to just do a quick clutch dump and jump on the brake pedal. This works too, but IMO, it burns up rear brake pads and puts unnecessary heat into the rotors. See video for example of proper use of line loc.

Pay to play, once it starts slipping it’s time to replace it, if it’s not slipping should be good

Clutch slipping is pretty easy to tell. Especially in high HP car. Just bear down on the throttle, at speed, say 40 in a tall gear and watch the RPMs to see if they shoot up with no corresponding change in the speed of the car.
