Clutch Pedal

My 2023 clutch doesn’t engage until the clutch pedal is near the top of its travel. My 2012’s clutch engages about half way and feels “right”. Is there a problem with the 2023 clutch/clutch pedal or is this normal?

Hmmm the clutch is so easy on theses cars I haven't noticed. Doesn't sound right tho.

hmmm mine engages approx. at the half way point. I would drop it off at your dealer something is not right. Can you actually stop at the engagement point and see how far the travel is? Might be how light the clutch is making you feel that way? When I added the Steeda spring it improved the feel, before I couldnt really feel the engagement point. Good luck.

I had a hydraulic clutch which needed to be bled, as it was having the same symptoms. In my case the fluid was contaminated at the factory and had turned black, so replacing the fluid was the right solution.

When you go to the dealer, ask if you and a tech can test drive another M1 to see if they’re the same.

I did notice when driving a M1 that the engagement point was different (higher) than my EB and also my GT. There ought to be a set-screw so the driver can change pedal 'height' on engagement but Ford wasn't that clever.

have someone film the clutch 'finger' assembly as you work the pedal.
The other thing many people do is rip out the clutch "assist" spring so it stops lying to you as to what the mechanicals are doing. Maybe the M1 has an even stiffer spring than the EB/GT so it activates almost immediately?

At the risk of jacking, anyone examine the slave/master to see if there is a bleed restrictor in the line ala Dodge Challenger?

My engagement is at the top of the pedal travel as well. I assumed it was normal.

Clutch pedal engagement was one of the things I did NOT like when I was Mustang shopping. I drove 2 GT350's that had really high pedal engagement. I was jerking all around at first while driving them. The used MACh1 I drove prior to buying my new MACh1 was a totally different feel. It felt more like my old 90 LX 5.0 did. My MACh1 pedal engagement is nowhere near the top of the pedal travel.

Don’t get the steeda clutch spring.
You will just be disappointed. A lot of people swear by it but I don’t like it.
These clutches have a very long throw and you need to lift off half the pedal distance because it engages.

I’ll tell you the best solution that has worked perfect for me.
Clutch pedal stop.
A bracket that fits to the pedal and stops the full travel of the clutch.

I tried all different springs and they were all too hard to depress the clutch.

try a clutch stop and see how you get on

Same on my Bullitt too.
Don’t get a clutch spring though it will make things worse.

get a clutch stop and reduce some of the clutch travel.
Worked wonders for me

I personally think the clutch travel is fine and with the Steeda clutch spring gives the nice "feel" the stock clutch is missing. When I drove the Mach 1 at the Mach 1 track attack with the stock clutch spring, I did not like the feel at all. Each to his own I guess.

BTW how are you folks engaging high? I don't understand mine seems right in the middle like my 2014 GT.

Yeah where did you find this? All I see is a clutch pedal extension to be able to move your seat back.

Same here with engagement towards the top... I've been driving manual shift vehicles for close to 43 years with no gap, and my 2023 Mach 1 M6 has been difficult to get used to.
I just swapped out the stock clutch spring with the Steeda spring. Can't say it's a miracle cure, but it did reduce the "push" at top of engagement that causes the embarrassing bucking.
Another thing that I've done is micro position my seating position so that clutch engagement feels more fluid. The seating position a little further out than I expected, but it works. I tried this prior to the Steeda spring and it just didn't happen.
