Sort of scared to bring my car to the dealer for any tsb. Having them try to replicate anything in my car would give them a chance to abuse it

Thats understandable, but if you can get the car to smoke in the service drive so the advisor can see it, it should make it a lot easier (and reference the TSB).

Wouldn't it also be considerable proof to take video of the car smoking on startup/at idle/whenever and just show them that? Mine smokes a shit ton when I start it, but I don't pay attention when I'm driving if it's smoking after it's warmed up. Could be enough to convince them to do the work if your car doesn't show it all the time.

That might be an idea. I could always have them tell me that I'm full bolt ons and that's the reason for the smoke.

So if I flash back to my stock tune should I drive around for a bit or just not bother with the cycles at all? Has anyone bothered with this before a dealer visit?

@Tune+ do you know how the PCM reprogram they detail would affect the MAP tune?

To me that sounds like normal condensation when its cold out, all cars do that to some degree, but if its like the video in the first post of the thread than thats enough for the fix. Try letting it warm up first then let it idle for 10 min and see if it smokes - the smoke should have a blue tint to it, not pure white.

The PCM reflash will overwrite any aftermarket tune that has been installed in the PCM.

Aftermarket tunes can also cause the IDS (Ford scan tool) to encounter an error during the reprogramming process, which can cause the PCM to become blank and require replacement.

I would suggest returning the PCM tuning to factory before bringing your vehicle in for any service at the dealer.

I'm familiar with smoke from condensation. It puts out far too much for it to just be condensation. I'll double check the color of it since the majority of my time in the car is at night.

Oh I plan to, just wasn't sure how much to "cover it up" before going in. I really have no idea how my local dealers would handle anything aftermarket on the car. Can't know if they're warranty-crazy or not without chatting with them.

I do appreciate the heads up about your tooling though! Last thing I want is to brick something.

UPDATE-

I took the stang in for the thermal recall initial inspection as well as an initial look at the TSB for smoking. They were pretty reluctant to do the TSB look and order parts, so it was a HUGE benefit to have the service bulletin printed out and on hand. THANK YOU.

That's good to hear. I took the liberty of printing up a copy as well. I might schedule time to go in next week.

Can we get ahold of the updated PCV part and throw it on instead of gutting the old one?
Or is the best bet still dual valve catch can + gutted PCV?

I asume this is the same for the EU stangs? Will definetelly print this TSB out and have it checked. Even with a catch-can installed I get a lot of smoke during start up, the first 20/30 seconds I get thick black smoke then it becomes normal.

That is a completely different problem
