Hi does anyone know if the Ford Mondeo smart key can be coded onto a ford mustang? They look exactly the same and dealer wants 200 quid when online for a Mondeo they're 40 ?

Yeah but these are from America I’m UK based so it’ll take weeks to arrive on top of that mine has 3 button whereas these are 5 so I’m not sure if that’d work either

You have the internet in the UK, right?

If the fob is physically identical (sixe, shape, number and positioning of the buttons, etc) then you need to check the back of the new fob for the FCC ID number and the part number. I know that the FCC ID has to match but I'm not sure if the part number absolutely has to.

I programmed a key from an Edge / Explorer / Fusion for my third key. Ford logo on the back, not Mustang. Always have a third key with Fords, super easy to program yourself when you have two others.

Just an FYI after getting braindead replies from kingkong I spend 30 quid on a Mondeo key and it worked with no issues

Just for future reference: These don't work on european cars out of the box. In the US you're using a different frequency for the remote functions. In order to make these work you also need to change the control module and the TPMS sensors. And I'm pretty sure you also need to adjust some values with Forscan. The upside of all of this: Afterwards you can use remote start with one of these keys (instead only with the App).
