The keyless entry system operates much like in the Fusion. There are multiple antennas mounted in the car to detect where the key is and capacitive sensors on the inside of the door handles. The doors don't unlock until you actually grab the handle. For models with the memory seats, you can actually program seat, mirror and steering wheel positions to each individual key (it supports up to for key fobs with individual settings. As you grab the driver's door handle with a fob in your pocket/purse, the seats, mirrors and wheel automatically move to your preferred position.Does anybody have any info on how the new keyless entry system and push-button start works? Do the doors lock / unlock in proximity to the key?
More importantly, what are the systems in place for what to do if the car battery dies? Is there a physical key backup so that you can get in to the car if you have to? What about the trunk (where most people keep jumper cables, which would be kind of useless if you can't get into the trunk...) Will you still be able to push-start cars with manual transmissions even though it has a start/stop button instead of a key?
If two people with keys approach, it automatically detects the fob on the driver's side and uses those settings. if a couple mixes up there fobs, you can always retrieve settings with the memory buttons on the door too. If you approach the back of the car, only the trunk lid opens and the doors remain locked for security
