So I just finished autocross season and while I'm still learning (this is my 3rd season, minus last year where I only got to go twice because of COVID), I feel like I need to start making some upgrades on my car to be more competitive. I have a 2017 GT PP. I've done little things like gotten an alignment at a local race shop as aggressive as I could with stock parts, new tires (Indy 500s), fluids, etc. I also enjoy TrackNights and have done 3 so far with plans to try to do more next year.

So my question is, my car is low miles (13k) and with used car prices up so much, it's worth $35k+, am I hurting it's value by doing suspension mods, power pack 2, new rims (I'd keep the old ones to switch out)? I don't see myself getting out of this hobby anytime soon but if I did, I would want to be able to sell the car and recoup my cost on the car (it's paid off). I know the mods would be lost but I'm willing to accept that. I guess unless I found someone that wanted to buy it as is!

I know there are a lot of likeminded people here who are going to say that they do this all the time. I just need reassurance before I go crazy on Black Friday sales getting ready for next season!

You may do well to hang onto all stock equipment to reinstall, if you wind up needing to sell. Big buyers like vroom and carvana spend money to undo any aftermarket modifications and return a vehicle to stock before selling, which cuts into your price. Obviously that doesn't necessarily exist for private sellers, but it's good to have regardless.

I say if its in your budget and makes you happy, do it. Like Kona said, hang on to the stock parts. If and when the day comes to sell the Stang you can return it as close to stock as you'd like and sell the other parts. We only live once, have fun!!!

If you've got the money to burn and understand your gas mileage will go down and you have to at minimum run 93 on the power pack 2 it's great. I pieced together my power pack 3 from used parts and got a tune elsewhere for much cheaper. Also got my headers and current catback on a closeout from summit. Can save some cash if you want and shop deals
