I would use a new gen2 block because at $796 with free shipping it’s almost the same price as what a machine shop will charge to prep and bore your block.
The gen2 block can use cylinder supports that make it good for 1200whp or more. (making it stronger than the gen3) the gen3 can not.
For your goals I wouldn’t waist the money on a 5.2 you don’t need it. If you just want it then sure but not needed. Also It will Significantly increase the price.
Compression ratio is going to depend on how much boost you want to run. Low boost higher compression. High boost lower compression.
What kind of budget are we talking about?and are you capable of building yourself?
