Definitely will do. I doubt the recall is what I was originally describing, but I'll let you know for sure. I already took it to the dealer and they said "we'll let you know when we can do anything about it" - I'm guessing not until well after quarantine.

You are correct, the recall has nothing to do with shifting in the forward gears. As I understand the recall, it's about a gizmo inside the shifter that blocks you out of reverse if you don't pull up the ring. Apparently, on some 2019's, that mechanism wasn't made correctly and you could shift into reverse without lifting the ring. Not good. The recall is to fix that problem.
