Hi all, I have a 2015 GT Manual with 3.55.
Ever since new, I occasionally have had an issue with 3rd gear. The best I can describe it is picture I have a metal gated shifter like in a ferarri. When going into 3rd sometimes it's like I grind up the metal gate all the way into gear. To be clear, it does not feel like it's any hesitation from the tranny itself, but the actual shift mechanism. It definitely appears to happen more when the car is cold, but it will start doing it 30 minutes into a drive where it hasn't done it at all. I've sometimes wondered if something is lubed properly, but I don't know anything about how transmissions work. I'm tempted to install a short shifter just to see if it fixes it.
I used to think that I was letting the clutch out too soon in third and grinding third into gear. That's exactly what it feels like, but it doesn't make a grinding noise. But I've confirmed it will do it with the clutch fully depressed.
At 7k miles now and it hasn't gone away. Also, I can't predictably recreate the problem so I'm dreading taking itto the dealer to have them tell me they don't feel anything.
Has anyone heard of such a thing or what it could possibly be?
edit: It has only happened during regular driving shifting below 3000. I've never had it happen during high rev shifts.
